After hearing people go on and on all over the Internet about NYX Eye Shadows, I gave in and got myself Ultimate Pearl in Golden Pink Pearl ($3). And it is lovely. [The] texture is almost creamy, and the pigmentation is crazy for something that price. [The] problem is, I hate the color! It's my own fault, really. I'll admit [that I] bought it online and didn't bother searching for swatches first. I am Asian. I have fair skin with yellowish undertones, and I think the color looks just plain gaudy on my eyes. I tried mixing it with other colors, [like] bronzes and golds, but they ended up looking like I have a black eye. I tried using it as a blush, and that works OK [but it's a] little too shimmery. Does anyone have any other solutions?

Laura Mercier Eye Colour Shimmer in Mauve, $20, is a slightly iridescent purplish pink shadow. It can be worn alone on the base of your lid or mixed with a deeper taupe in the crease for added drama.
This is one of my all time favorite shadows. It is formulated with french cashmere talc so it glides on silky smooth, it blends well and it won't give you that icky crease by mid day. This type of shadow is also available in 18 other beautiful shades.
