BellaSugar’s Top Picks For Eyebrow Kits

Is it just me, or did eyebrows suddenly become the big beauty thing?

Is it just me, or did eyebrows suddenly become the big beauty thing? It used to be that you'd use your favorite brown or taupe shadow to fill in thin or light hairs and add structure to your face. Now, kits are available in all sizes and prices. Some include tweezers, brushes, stay-proof waxes and multi-color shadows, while others have fewer bells and whistles but still get the job done. Below are my personal favorite eyebrow kits; what are yours?

  • Anastasia Brow Ex-press in Brunette ($38) is one of my favorites. Her tweezers are amazingly precise and I really like being able to blend all of these colors without having to spend a fortune.
  • Le Sourcil de Chanel ($46.60) has a thick, waxy texture that blends surprisingly well, and leave it Chanel to choose just the right combo of colors to suit just about any brow color.
  • Too Faced Brow Envy Brow Shaping & Defining Kit ($35) has an unbelievable price for all it includes. Inside of the pink polka-dot box comes two powder shades, molding wax, stencil, mini-tweezers, mirror, brown pencil with a blending tip and an angled brush.
  • Ramy Beauty Therapy Miracle Brow ($28) is near and dear to my heart because it's the first brow kit I ever used. The creamy gel texture blends like silk and leaves your brows not only darker but also well groomed — this is a winner!
  • DuWop Browwow in Darker ($34) is small, but it does the trick every time. Inside of the pink compact lies a colored powder, a shimmery highlighter and a tinted gloss to use when you're finished and a double sided brush for precise application and flawless blending.

Make-You-Laugh Makeup: Suggestive Names

Part of the fun of shopping for makeup is checking out some of the creative, sexy and funny names that companies come up with for new products.

Part of the fun of shopping for makeup is checking out some of the creative, sexy and funny names that companies come up with for new products. While something like Thrrrob is outwardly sexy, some names are more discreetly suggestive. These in particular made me laugh, so I thought you might enjoy them too.

The Balm Plum Your Pucker Lip Gloss in Squeeze My Lemons ($14) is a translucent and gentle lip plumper made from folic acid, menthol, vitamin C and just a slight touch of Maxi-Lip plumper to help increase blood flow to the mouth.

All of the glosses from The Balm are cutesy, but I happen to think the name of this one in particular is adorable. We totally get what it means and can laugh about it without it feeling gross whatsoever.

New Product Alert: Ramy Beauty Therapy Sleep In Beauty

Here's a new product with a clever name.

Here's a new product with a clever name. Sleep In Beauty ($48) is a tinted moisturizer that acts kind of like a really light foundation. It contains all kinds of good ingredients like active peptides (to smooth away rough skin), matrixyl (to help relax skin and diminish fine lines), salicylic acid (to kill acne-causing bacteria) and other nutrients to keep your skin moisturized.

The gimmick of it all is that you can sleep in it and it won't run all over your pillow, since it penetrates deeply into your skin like a cream as opposed to a foundation. Also, it works to calm redness and create a healthy glow, so when you wake up, you look great!

This sounds more like a dream cream for sleeping beauties (I kill myself sometimes), but instead of nicknaming it the obvious, Ramy has appropriately dubbed his latest invention, "The Hook-Up Cream." Sleep In Beauty! is available in light, medium and dark. I'm not sure if I could get used to the idea of sleeping in my makeup. What about you?

New Product Alert: Ramy Beauty Therapy Lip Oils

Ramy Beauty Therapy just launched a lip treatment called Lip Oil ($18).

Ramy Beauty Therapy just launched a lip treatment called Lip Oil ($18). These deep lip conditioners are made with almond oil, jojoba oil and collagen-enhanced marine spheres to create plump, juicy, nourished and hydrated lips.

I just love this concept. Instead of using an ordinary lip balm to coat the lips, these oils absorb quickly and penetrate deeply into the lowers layers of skin to smooth out dryness and cracks in the surface and prevent further chapping.

They are available in three different flavors; mint extract, orange oil and rose milk to make the experience even more delicious. My only question is, won't the oil run all over your mouth?

The directions say to apply with your fingertip or directly from the dropper and blend, so maybe it's not quite as runny as I think. Overall, this newbie sounds pretty exciting — I'm not sure how long I can resist a flavored, deeply nourishing lip plumper. If anyone tries it, please report back with a comment or a private message.

Make-You-Laugh Makeup: The Morning After

As we all know, makeup can really be fun.

As we all know, makeup can really be fun. I love it when designers create humorous or sarcastic names to go along with their products—why not, right? A couple of months ago, I posted about funny face makeup names and most recently, on my journey through stores and websites searching for blue makeup, I stumbled across some pretty clever names for cosmetics that have to do with regret. I thought I'd share some of them with you. And of course, if you have any funny names of your own, please comment below!

Remember Too Faced Drunk Dial Liquid Eyeliner from the other day? If you thought that was bad, how about Playboy Beauty Blush in Tie Me To The Bedpost ($17.50). Oh, the things we say in the wee hours of the night.

The color of this sheer shimmer blush looks the same on your skin as it does in the packaging. It is made from triple-milled powders which leaves skin looking velvety-soft. Now you won't be able to tell if the makeup or your dirty talk is making you blush!

Celebrity Beauty: Britney's Look on Letterman

Didn't Britney Spears look fabulous during her surprise appearance on Letterman on Monday?

Didn't Britney Spears look fabulous during her surprise appearance on Letterman on Monday? You can thank Ramy Gafni, the makeup artist to the stars, who owns RamySpa in NYC and who founded Ramy Beauty Therapy. Ramy had the pleasure of making up the superstar, who looked radiant despite having just filed for divorce. According to Ramy, Brit was gorgeous and sweet, and only later did he realize why she seemed a little bit somber. When I spoke with him yesterday, he revealed the products behind Britney's new look, which you can create at home for yourself. All products are from Ramy Beauty and are available here.

  • To start, Ramy used his Miracle Brow To Go stick (the blonde side) to fill in her brows. Since she had just come from the Rita Hazan Salon where she was taken from a light brunette to blond again, her look was very fair-skinned.
  • Next he used Skin Stick #2 as a concealer under her eyes to cover and brighten, then followed that up with Ramy pure radiance pressed powder.
  • For a fresh and even look, he applied his Elixir Liqui-Powder Foundation in Porcelain Doll. This product is amazing because it totally disappears into the skin and eventually turns into a translucent powder!

Wow Brow Kits

When it comes to grooming, I think eyebrow maintenance should be one of your top concerns.

When it comes to grooming, I think eyebrow maintenance should be one of your top concerns. After all, your eye brows are what shape your face, and how they look can really affect your overall appearance. Here are a few fabulous kits to help shade, fill in, and enhance the most important (and hopefully the only) hairs on your face. Remember to opt for a shade that is just slightly darker than your normal eyebrow shade.

Make-up artist to the stars Mally Roncal has created her own cosmetics line, called Mally, which includes the Brow Beauty 3-Step Brow Kit to enhance and emphasize your eyes. Part one is a brow pencil that shades and fills in thin brows, while the other end of the pencil (part two) adds deeper color. The last element is a brow gel that highlights and brightens the eye area. The kit is available in three shades: blond, brunette, and sable. Buy it here for $35.
