Reader Review of the Day: Make Up For Ever Duo Mat Powder Foundation

I really love Make Up For Ever's HD Microfinish Powder, but I hadn't tried the brand's Duo Mat Powder Foundation ($32).

I really love Make Up For Ever's HD Microfinish Powder, but I hadn't tried the brand's Duo Mat Powder Foundation ($32). It sounds pretty good from reader nikkecole's experience with it, though. She says:

"I bought this product to get medium coverage on days I need something more than just a light mineral powder foundation. This product is pretty good. It gives good coverage and lasts pretty well through the day. I tend to have dry skin, and this does still show some of the dry areas (I think because it's a powder). The coverage is great, though, and I like that the closure is magnetic and easy to use. Overall, I would recommend this product."

Reader Review of the Day: BioSilk Silk Therapy Hair Treatment

I used BioSilk for a while in college.

I used BioSilk for a while in college. I liked it, but I hadn't thought about it in a couple of years, and I certainly wasn't aware of what was in it when I used it. Reviewers, though, have noted that the Silk Therapy Hair Treatment ($24) apparently has a lot of hair-drying alcohol in it. Reader ceraes says:

"This product smells good but has tons of alcohol in it. I stopped using it for a while and the serum settled at the bottom, so when I went to go and pour it I got a watery alcohol substance. Of course, once you shake the product it works fine, but that just goes to show you how fragrance can hide how much alcohol is really in this product."

Reader Review of the Day: Revlon New Complexion One-Step Compact Makeup

Seems like there are a million foundations out there, but very few are likely to make you fall in love with them.

Seems like there are a million foundations out there, but very few are likely to make you fall in love with them. I hadn't heard about Revlon New Complexion One-Step Compact Makeup ($12), for instance, but from reader francyface's experience, it sounds great. She says:

"This makeup is amazing! I have been looking for the foundation forever and have tried foundations at every price point, but I finally found it at the drugstore. It truly looks and feels like my skin, only better. The color is perfect and it wears all day on my slightly oily/combination face. The search is finally over!"

Reader Review of the Day: Caress Evenly Gorgeous Scrub

Although I like some of Caress's other body washes, I'd never tried the brand's Evenly Gorgeous Body Wash Scrub ($7).

Although I like some of Caress's other body washes, I'd never tried the brand's Evenly Gorgeous Body Wash Scrub ($7). From reader Dipstix311's description, though, it sounds great (and good enough to eat). She says:

"Great scrub for winter. It's got little bits of brown sugar in it, which makes it smell like cookies! It's not rough, and it keeps my skin feeling soft and moisturized. Gentle enough to use every day. Love the size of the bottle; it will last you throughout winter!"

Maybelline

Reader Review of the Day: Maybelline Expert Eyes Moisturizing Mascara Remover

I've never tried Maybelline Expert Eyes Moisturizing Mascara Remover for Waterproof Eye Makeup ($5), but I had heard good things about it from a few other people.

I've never tried Maybelline Expert Eyes Moisturizing Mascara Remover for Waterproof Eye Makeup ($5), but I had heard good things about it from a few other people. No product works well for everyone, though, as reader polkadots567's experience with this makeup remover shows. She says:

"I hate this product! I'll admit, I'm sort of a stranger to the whole makeup remover world; this is the first one I've tried and I'm sorely disappointed. I like Maybelline's products, but this one did absolutely nothing to remove eyeliner that wasn't even waterproof in the first place! I had to go back to my standby warm water that I had hoped to give up by now."

Mascara

Reader Review of the Day: Revlon DoubleTwist Volumizing Mascara

Sometimes the hot new thing isn't so hot, as is apparently the case with Revlon DoubleTwist Volumizing Mascara ($9).

Sometimes the hot new thing isn't so hot, as is apparently the case with Revlon DoubleTwist Volumizing Mascara ($9). Reader mariacall had a bad experience with the stuff, and says:

"I saw the commercials and magazine ads for this and rushed out to get it, because I thought it would work really well. I bought it in the Blackened Brown shade. The only word I can use to describe it is disgusting; the brush itself comes out a clumped mess that you can't even touch to your eyes, and when you do, you'll definitely want to take it off. I've never used a worse mascara and could have had better results with a dollar store brand. Save your money."

Reader Review of the Day: Cover Girl Trushine Lipstick

Cover Girl TruShine Lipstick ($3.50) has earned several good reviews in the community since it came out on the market, and since shiny lips are a holiday must, I thought it might be a good time to share reader mizz_jennii's helpful review.

Cover Girl TruShine Lipstick ($3.50) has earned several good reviews in the community since it came out on the market, and since shiny lips are a holiday must, I thought it might be a good time to share reader mizz_jennii's helpful review. She says:

"I was never a fan of CoverGirl's lip products until I tried this TruShine lipstick yesterday. I was in the market for a nude-ish lipstick and read about this particular color in Glamour magazine so I had to pick it up. I got it on sale for a little under $4 — not too bad! The lipsticks are arranged by skin tone, so picking a shade is a piece of cake. They are very soft and moisturizing — doesn't dry out my lips. I line my lips with Prestige Lip Liner in Silk followed by Petal Shine lipstick and I have the perfect nude-ish pink lip color. I can also swipe it on straight from the tube (without a mirror) and not worrying that it's all over my mouth."

Blush

Reader Review of the Day: Almay Touchpad Blush

Almay Touchpad Blush promises natural-looking color, but reader emalove says it's a little bit too natural: I had such high hopes for this blush when I tried it a couple of years ago .

Almay Touchpad Blush promises natural-looking color, but reader emalove says it's a little bit too natural:

I had such high hopes for this blush when I tried it a couple of years ago . . . the packaging was innovative at the time and I thought it would give pretty, sheer color to my cheeks. Plus, I love cream, gel, and liquid blushes. I tried this blush in a soft peach shade and was SO disappointed. It was super-watery and you could hardly see the color on my face. And I'm very pale-skinned; even light colors are usually very noticeable. But this blush was beyond sheer. Even after I reapplied a couple of times, it didn't really do anything for me. It was so watery that it almost seemed to disappear or rub off as I tried to blend it in.

Laura Mercier is known for her lovely products, and her  All Over Eye Color Brush ($30) is apparently no exception.

Laura Mercier is known for her lovely products, and her  All Over Eye Color Brush ($30) is apparently no exception. Reader ElisabethR says:

"I have been fighting with eye shadow brushes for months. Every single one I bought was too small, too stiff, and didn't distribute color evenly on my lids. I finally broke down and bought this one. What a difference. It covers my eyelid beautifully with color, and I can blend right up into the crease. In a pinch, it works as a crease brush, as it fits perfectly into the crease of the eye. If you were trying to keep make-up brushes to a minimum during a trip, you could easily survive with this one. I can't recommend it enough. It's expensive, but you'll waste so much more money trying to go for cheaper, smaller brushes. I wish I had bought this one sooner."

Lip Liner

Reader Review of the Day: Kevyn Aucoin The Flesh Tone Lip Pencil

There are so many lip liners out there, and the colors and textures can get a little mind-boggling.

There are so many lip liners out there, and the colors and textures can get a little mind-boggling. That's why it's great when someone finds something they love, like reader ineedcaffeine has. She's head over heels for Kevyn Aucoin The Flesh Tone Lip Pencil ($24), and says:

"I am helpless when it comes to matching lip pencils with lipsticks. I always seem to get it wrong, so thankfully Kevyn Aucoin created this pencil. It's almost the same exact color as my lips, so I can wear it with anything. I use it to outline my lips and color them in (sometimes) and my lipsticks/lip gloss stay on basically all day. It's the perfect lip liner if you can't seem to match. "
