New Bronzers You Need For an Instant Summer Glow

What is it about a bronze glow that instantly enhances one's mood?

What is it about a bronze glow that instantly enhances one's mood? Maybe it's a reminder of an amazing tropical vacation (hello, piña colada!) or perhaps it's that it makes us feel a little more confident. We won't preach to you about the harmful effects of UV rays, or that you should always wear an SPF 30 or higher, but we will encourage you to try these new bronzer launches, out just in time for a natural-looking Summer glow sans the harmful side effects. There's something for everyone: a powder, a cream, and one that's great for contouring, too. Just remember to start off light-handed when applying your bronzer and then build as needed.

Practice Safe Sunning During Skin Cancer Awareness Month

Here's an excerpt from OnSugar blog Queen of the Quarter Life Crisis: So if you don't already know, May is national Skin Cancer Awareness Month.

Here's an excerpt from OnSugar blog Queen of the Quarter Life Crisis:

So if you don't already know, May is national Skin Cancer Awareness Month. This is something especially near and dear to my heart, as my closest Aunt passed away of skin cancer when she was only 43 years old back in 1996. Luckily, more and more people are becoming aware of how harmful the sun is to our skin and health but it's still not enough. . . And even though it's the most preventable cancer, it's also one of the most deadly.

Skincare giant La Roche-Posay created this great new public awareness campaign called Save Our Skin in hopes to increase awareness. For every person who signs up for the campaign, La Roche-Posay will donate money to The Skin Cancer Foundation and the Women's Dermatological Society. In the meantime, here are my current SPF favorites.

What's Your Favorite Punny Product?

With thousands of cosmetics and beauty goods out there, manufacturers often look to their teams of creative copywriters to dream up product names that stand out from the rest.

With thousands of cosmetics and beauty goods out there, manufacturers often look to their teams of creative copywriters to dream up product names that stand out from the rest. Soap & Glory's Wizard of Flaws ($16) is a cleverly-named concealer and luminizer. Too Faced's The Bronzed and The Beautiful ($35) contains three different palettes so that you can achieve the perfect sun-kissed glow. And then there's Benefit 's punny products, like Eyecon ($30) brightening eye cream, and Lemon Aid ($20), a color-correcting primer. Do you have one to add to the bunch? I'm "dyeing" to find out.

Reader Review of the Day: Too Faced Mood Swing Lip Gloss

Cosmetics that change color are rather popular these days, working by using your body chemistry to create customized hues.

Cosmetics that change color are rather popular these days, working by using your body chemistry to create customized hues. Too Faced Mood Swing Lip Gloss ($18.50) starts off as a clear gloss, then changes into a pink shade, depending on your emotional state — or so they say. Did reader Burotukunam buy into it? See what she had to say below:

Now, this gloss may not change to your mood, but who thought it really would? It does, however, change to a fun bright pink color. Depending on how much you use, you can get a subtle or dramatic difference in the color of your lips. And it does stain, but I love that fact, because even when the shine has started to fade, your lips are still lusciously pink. And it's not like having an opaque pink gloss which looks like you have a layer of paint on your lips.

Do you love beauty products? Head over to our Product Reviews website to voice your opinion about them. Right now, we're having an amazing contest. For each three quality reviews you submit, you'll be entered into our contest to win a $500 gift certificate from Benefit Cosmetics. So get reviewing — the contest ends on March 23.

New Product Alert: Too Faced Custom Palette

In search of a last-minute gift?

In search of a last-minute gift? You can't go wrong with an IOU for Too Faced's customizable makeup palette ($35). It's a great gift for a hard-to-please friend because she'll be able to select exactly what she wants in this palette. Each one has room for a dual eye shadow, a blush, and your choice of a lip gloss, mascara, eyeliner, or eye shadow primer.

Although budding makeup designers can't choose from every one of Too Faced's products, they'll find a lot of flexibility. And since Too Faced allows you to choose other aspects of the box design, your finicky friend will be able to make everything juuuuuust the way she likes it.

Coming Soon: Too Faced Smurfs It Up

Retro cartoons are increasingly popular within the makeup world — just witness the buzz around the forthcoming Hello Kitty collection for MAC.

Retro cartoons are increasingly popular within the makeup world — just witness the buzz around the forthcoming Hello Kitty collection for MAC. With its launch of a Smurfette collection, Too Faced is hoping to delight fans of the Smurfs before the live-action movie wraps up. WWD reports that the Too Faced collection will feature face powder, eye shadow, lip gloss, and liquid eyeliners. The items, heavy on blues, pinks, and lavenders, will land in stores later this month.

This might be smurfy news for some, but I'm going to pass on this collaboration. Even as a kid, I thought the story of Smurfette's genesis is as sexist as they come: Gargamel creates Smurfette to seduce and destroy the all-male Smurf clan. Alas, her dark hair, "big nose" and simple smock are not pretty enough to do so. Papa Smurf comes along, works his magic, and poof! Smurfette is, as Papa says, "new and improved" with long blond hair, a smaller nose, a shorter dress, and high heels. So, while it's just a cartoon and the Too Faced collaboration is meant to be fun, it's safe to say that Smurfette and I have some baggage to work through.

BellaSugar’s Top Picks For Eyebrow Kits

Is it just me, or did eyebrows suddenly become the big beauty thing?

Is it just me, or did eyebrows suddenly become the big beauty thing? It used to be that you'd use your favorite brown or taupe shadow to fill in thin or light hairs and add structure to your face. Now, kits are available in all sizes and prices. Some include tweezers, brushes, stay-proof waxes and multi-color shadows, while others have fewer bells and whistles but still get the job done. Below are my personal favorite eyebrow kits; what are yours?

  • Anastasia Brow Ex-press in Brunette ($38) is one of my favorites. Her tweezers are amazingly precise and I really like being able to blend all of these colors without having to spend a fortune.
  • Le Sourcil de Chanel ($46.60) has a thick, waxy texture that blends surprisingly well, and leave it Chanel to choose just the right combo of colors to suit just about any brow color.
  • Too Faced Brow Envy Brow Shaping & Defining Kit ($35) has an unbelievable price for all it includes. Inside of the pink polka-dot box comes two powder shades, molding wax, stencil, mini-tweezers, mirror, brown pencil with a blending tip and an angled brush.
  • Ramy Beauty Therapy Miracle Brow ($28) is near and dear to my heart because it's the first brow kit I ever used. The creamy gel texture blends like silk and leaves your brows not only darker but also well groomed — this is a winner!
  • DuWop Browwow in Darker ($34) is small, but it does the trick every time. Inside of the pink compact lies a colored powder, a shimmery highlighter and a tinted gloss to use when you're finished and a double sided brush for precise application and flawless blending.

Bellissima! Too Faced Decade of Glamour

Wow, It felt like Christmas morning when I opened up my big Decade of Glamour box from Too Faced Cosmetics ($40).

Wow, It felt like Christmas morning when I opened up my big Decade of Glamour box from Too Faced Cosmetics ($40). Wide-eyed and excited, I eagerly opened up the pink and black double doors to reveal a left and a right leaflet filled with six lip glosses, two lipsticks and a lip balm.

Then, underneath the main panel, there are three full-sized products. In total, there's an exclusive bronzer, a clear lip plumper, another double-sided bronzer, six mini eye shadows, a mini black eyeliner pencil, a mini black mascara and a mini double-blush in light and dark shades of pink.

Now can you see why this has reached Bellissima status! I sit in amazement, playing with my trove of goodies and wonder how this can all be just $40. The answer is that it really has a much higher value ($195, to be exact), but Too Faced decided to gather ten years' worth of their best-selling items and create this anniversary mega-set. This about as ideal a gift as you can get for a fellow beauty product junkie. Do you think you'll buying one anytime soon?
