Trend Alert: Multi-Color Powder Bronzers

Summertime always breeds safe, fun, sunless bronzing products and I've noticed that a few of the new bronzing-powder compacts contain more than one shade in them. The idea is to create a healthy-looking glow, and I suppose the gradation of colors is a way to achieve that look. Instead of having a flat tan all over your face, the variation of shades creates a more natural effect. Here are five new multicolor powder bronzers on the market for Summer 2008 for you to check out.

Perfect Palettes at Every Price

This weekend I stumbled across this gorgeous palette from Aussie brand Becca, and I had to do a double-take.

This weekend I stumbled across this gorgeous palette from Aussie brand Becca, and I had to do a double-take. The "Best of Becca" palette is a worthy addition to any makeup collection. Unlike most palettes that only have one or two useful colors, this one contains colors that are all flattering on almost every skin tone. Inside are two earthy eye shadows, a subtle yet flattering rosy nude blush, a pinkish caramel lip/cheek cream, and a shimmery gloss to polish off the look. You can literally do your entire face with this palette. Throw on some mascara, and you're all set! If the $59 price tag is a little steep, check out some more affordable options when you read more

Too Faced Goes Intergalactic, Planetary

Paging Mr. Spock! Too Faced Cosmetics has just launched an out-of-this-world, baked eye shadow called Galaxy Glam Eye Shadow ($19.50).

Paging Mr. Spock! Too Faced Cosmetics has just launched an out-of-this-world, baked eye shadow called Galaxy Glam Eye Shadow ($19.50). Available in four colors, each one has a black base and contains swirls of contrasting iridescent bright colors. They can be worn wet or dry and they are supposed to give off the feeling that light is leaping onto your eyes from all angles.

While the concept and the futuristic silver packaging are unique, I found application to be a bit complicated. It really requires you to pay close attention to where you are sweeping your brush — get carried away and you'll have black where you want blue! On skin, the shades appear mostly black, with a slight sheen of color that shows up in the light. I think they'd work really well as eyeliner or with a dramatic smoky eye, but using them takes some practice.

Can A Lip Gloss Help You Lose Weight?

This is Too Faced FUZE Slenderize Guilt-Free Lip Gloss ($18.50).

This is Too Faced FUZE Slenderize Guilt-Free Lip Gloss ($18.50). Available in three shiny shades, it's infused with the "appetite-curbing, energy-boasting ingredients" of FUZE, a weight-loss drink. And yes, it promises to make you thinner.

It should go without saying that my BS sensors are going haywire on this one. While the colors seem nice enough, the idea of losing weight through lip gloss alone is silly. It's just not going to happen, my friends. (Not without eating right and staying fit, anyway.) Don't fall for this marketing ploy—and for that matter, don't fall for the idea that you need to be thin to be beautiful. If you can't live without the three colors of this gloss, go ahead and try it out. But if you think it'll make you slim down, think again.

Go For the Gold, Part II: Eye Shadow

Welcome back to my five-part series on gold makeup.

Welcome back to my five-part series on gold makeup. There are so many different gold eye shadows on the market right now that I found it challenging to come up with my three favorites. If you have any gorgeous and glimmery gold-metallic shadows that you especially love, please leave a comment with your recommendation below.

Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Glimmer in True Gold ($13) is a very sheer, almost translucent shimmer shadow that works to create a hint of subtle sparkle to your eyes. It's similar to gold dust in that it can also be worn on your décolletage and cheeks, but this also has a special quality because it can transform from wet to dry for a more dramatic effect.

Holiday 2007 Glittery Goodies!

Tis the season for all that glitters!

Tis the season for all that glitters! From sparkly eyes to shimmery lips, cheeks and shoulders, if you have any glitter makeup that you've been wanting to bust out, now is the time. Glittery goodies can be a lot of fun to play with, but remember that only one feature on your body should be the main attraction. Don't overdo it, or you'll look like one big Christmas ornament yourself.

Glitter is a great finishing touch to a smoky eye or on the center of your lips. You can sprinkle some along your collarbone and even highlight your cheeks with a more subtle form of glitter (such as a sheer shimmer). I've gathered up some of the season's hottest glitter makeup products below. Tell me, which is your favorite glitter product?

Make-You-Laugh Makeup: Envy

If envy is one of the seven deadly sins, I've got no shot at redemption.

If envy is one of the seven deadly sins, I've got no shot at redemption. Cosmetics companies know that when it comes to making money, cute, clever and kitschy names help bring in the bucks. Check out these three amazing makeup products that will surely turn you green with envy too!

Jealous much of my new Urban Decay Lip Envy ($17). How could I resist? This range of gel-texture and long-lasting lip stains dry to a matte finish, yet they still help moisturize dry, chapped lips.

They contain vitamin E, green tea, chamomile, and ginkgo biloba extracts and they have a delicious vanilla scent. The colors available are Envious (pink), Greedy (berry) and Jealous (bronze).

New Product Alert: Shimmer Veils by Too Faced

Too Faced Cosmetics has recently introduced a new and different genre of product called Shimmer Veils.

Too Faced Cosmetics has recently introduced a new and different genre of product called Shimmer Veils. These glittery, festive eye shades provide long-lasting, crease-proof color and because of the amount of "disco-ball" shine they exude, you can almost think of them as glosses for your eyes.

Using them is pretty simple: just sweep the wand over your lid for a sheer effect ,or layer for deeper color. Shimmer Veils can be worn alone or over your favorite eye shadow. They come in six gorgeous shades with fairy-tale names: Fairy Wings (shimmer nude with silver sparkles), Nymph Oh! (fuchsia with purple sparkles), Pixie Dust (lime green with gold glitter), Angel Hair (sparkly copper), Unicorn Tears (dark, metallic gray) and Firefly (shimmery latte). See, I told you to expect tons of glimmer and glitz for Holiday 2007!
