Hairstylists from all over Canada and the US descended upon Las Vegas last weekend for Wella Professionals' 2013 North America Trend Vision Awards (NATVAs) at The Mirage Hotel and Casino. Outside, a flash flood caused a bit of a frenzy in this typically arid local, but inside, talented hairstylists caused a storm of their own. Celebrity stylists Jennifer J (who has worked with the likes of Kristen Stewart, Cate Blanchett, and January Jones) and Andy Lecompte (who has styled the strands of stars such as Madonna and Nicole Richie), among others, judged finalists competing in the student, young talent, and color categories.
Competitors showcased looks based on the latest Trend Vision collection, which was presented and conceptualized by Wella Professionals Global Creative Directors Josh Wood and Eugene Souleiman in Madrid last year. Gold, silver, and bronze prizes were awarded accordingly by country; two of these winners will be chosen to represent North America at the International Trend Vision Awards in Frankfurt, Germany, next May.
Teams from other Procter & Gamble professional salon brands, including Sebastian, Clairol, and Sassoon Professional, also had the crowd captivated with their own runway shows. Check out those highlights now. It's a virtual front-row seat of all the action . . . minus the rain.
Full disclosure: Wella Professionals flew me to Las Vegas for one night to attend the 2013 North America Trend Vision Awards.
