Think the board room and beauty counter are two separate entities? You'll change your tune when you take a gander at BareMinerals Ready Eye Shadow 8.0 palette ($40). Dubbed "The Power Neutrals," the palette is chock-full of gorgeously wearable colors with cheeky names to boot. Money Maker is (appropriately) a sexy hunter green, which would play perfectly with a set of hazel eyes, while Magnate is that neutral taupe that every woman needs in her arsenal. Looking for a sexy metallic smoky eye? Shmooze is a gorgeous, shimmering bronze that would make anyone stop and stare. Tuck this palette away in your bag for whenever you need an instant power trip.
If you've ever ventured into the makeup aisle looking for coordinating liner, lipstick, and gloss, then you'll know it's no walk in the park. Lucky for us, BareMinerals has made things a whole lot easier with its Marvelous Moxie Lipstick ($18). In addition to 18 lip color options, the new collection features 10 lip liners and 14 lip glosses, so every lipstick hue has a partner. The liners are pigmented enough to wear alone; the glosses give high shine with a slight stain; and the lipsticks have a semimatte finish, providing full color in just one swipe (the cherry red, dubbed Live It Up, is a personal favorite). But the biggest payoff comes when you combine all three products. As a trio, these powerful hues not only finish bright but also last all night long. This is one threesome you can't refuse.
In the market for foundation? There's no single best foundation for everyone. Instead, look for one that's tailored to your needs and skin type. Watch this video to see the pros and cons of three kinds of foundation — liquid, powder, and tinted moisturizers. On Kirbie: dress by Modcloth, earrings by Kendra Scott.
You voted, and the results were clear. The Best Concealer of 2008 was Bare Minerals. So, I decided to check out the ever-expanding Product Reviews page to find out more for myself. While the product overall ranks 3.5 out of 5 stars (not too shabby), reader Ehouse had a mediocre opinion on Bare Escentuals BareMinerals Well-Rested For Eyes ($18), calling it just "an OK pale eye shadow." Check out her review below:
"This is a perfectly OK pale vanilla toned eyeshadow, and works fine as a base color. I didn't find it effective as a concealer. Most of us would have to be careful about using a powder like this under the eye anyway, as it tends to settle in the fine lines. It can be mixed with a moisturizer if you're determined to try to use it as a concealer."
