Bliss has already mastered the refreshingly scented body butter category with its original lemon and sage scent, but now there's a whole new fragrance to fall head over heels for: the beauty brand's Grapefruit + Aloe Body Butter ($29). The uplifting notes are appropriately light for summertime, making this product a wonderful alternative to your regular fragrance. Plus, the nourishing benefits of vitamin E and coconut and soybean oils provide intense moisture without the heaviness or tacky feel. It's just what a sunburned body needs. You'll want to show off your skin in this Summer-perfect scent.
This stuff is like a little kid's dream dessert somehow translated into a personal care product: it smells like Italian cream cake topped with lemon bar chunks along with a healthy helping of vanilla ice cream on the side. If you hate gourmand scents, you'll probably be utterly repelled, but if you love them, there's no turning back. In fact, if reading this is making your salivary glands tingle, maybe you shouldn't even try Hello! Yellow. There's no way you'll be able to sniff it without becoming addicted, and then, like me, you'll be on the hook for a $30 jar of shea butter, grinning like a fool while you pay.
Going eco doesn’t have to mean sacrificing quality. Today, Zelana reviews a few environmentally friendly choices to consider trying out: American Eagle's Aerie Botanicals Body Butter, Burt's Bees Natural Whitening Toothpaste, and Josie Maran Argan Oil Hair Serum. Watch our video to see what these eco products can do for you!
OK, can we talk about how cute this cookie is? Last night, Bliss launched its new scent, Blood Orange and White Pepper, and had these twee sweets to celebrate. But that wasn't the only crowd-pleaser. Earlier this year, Bliss held an "eau-lection" in which people chose among three fragrances to decide which one would make it to market. Forty thousand votes later, the blood orange and white pepper fragrance scored the big win.
After you smell it, you'll know why: This cocktail-inspired scent is a warm burst of citrus all wrapped up in body-butter goodness. Although it's a bit tangy for the first few seconds, it quickly develops into a light, realistically orange-y aroma with a slight hint of spice. It's neither "masculine" nor "feminine," just clean and fresh — but any man who smelled like this would instantly be Gosling-hot to me. The new scent is available as an amazingly hydrating body butter ($35), sugar scrub ($36), and shower gel ($24). So while you can't get it in snack form, you can check everything else out next week.
Kai is a cult fragrance that has largely been under the radar... until today, when Oprah announced this year's Favorite Things. One of the picks is Kai body butter, a $55 shea-butter souffle scented with tropical notes of cucumber, gardenia, and other white flowers. I've had this in lotion form for a while, and I can never decide if it's old-lady or if it's just a gorgeous floral—but with Oprah's endorsement, we'll all be smelling a whole lot more of it soon.
"Bathing is an art form and nobody enjoys it more than I do," Oprah said. "[Kai] is clean and fresh." It's also likely to sell out, so if you're hankering to smell like O, shop online while you can.
Looks like you can't predict Mother Nature. In anticipation of cooler weather to come, last week's Beauty Mark It challenge asked you to find body butters. But as it turns out, it's, uh, incredibly hot! It's hot all over the country! I'm schvitzing in front of the computer! Ah, weather, she is a fickle mistress.
Still, you all found some great body butters, which means we'll just have to see them melt a little faster than usual. A lot of votes came in for The Body Shop butters, especially the shea body butter ($10–$20). If you've tried these products, you can probably guess why they're so popular: They smell great, melt into skin quickly, and aren't exorbitantly expensive.
A less known but completely intriguing option comes from klynnmorton, who recommends Carol's Daughter SweetHoneyDipChocolateBrownSugah ($18). It's a mouthful of a name, but—yum yum—it smells like brown sugar. Carol's Daughter has yet to let me down with its butters, so you know I'll have to check this one out.
But those are only two of the many favorites. To see them all, browse this widget. And if you have your own suggestion, share it in the comments—the more options, the merrier!
Vaseline is about to come out with two additions to its Cocoa Butter line of lotions, and one of them is now on my repeat-buy list. I was able to sample its Cocoa Butter Smoothing Body Butter ($6.99), which will be available in stores any day now. It features a blend of cocoa and shea butters, which gives off a light and pleasant fragrance. For some reason, the scent reminds me of tropical beaches—which isn't a bad thing at all!
Like other body butters, it has a smooth texture and melts from the heat of your body. Unlike some other ones, though, this one doesn't feel greasy. I liked how easily it absorbed into my skin, and more importantly, how little of it is needed to get the job done. I definitely recommend using less product than you think you might need. You really don't need more than about a fingertip's worth to cover an entire leg, which means one eight-ounce container will last for a long time. If you have very dry, difficult-to-moisturize skin, try this out and let me know what you think. I have a feeling you're going to like it.
