Olivia Palermo attended the New York City screening of Henry's Crime last night sporting a retro-inspired hairstyle. Her hair was teased and curled under, with the front pulled back for a '60s-inspired look. It's a little Mad Men, a little Minnie Mouse, and definitely a departure for the normally subtle socialite. Do you love the look?

Fake Longer Hair With a Faux Bouffant Like Carey Mulligan

Brilliant! I already love Carey Mulligan's pretty short cut, but last night, she really showed off the look's versatility with a fake-out bouffant that made her hair look long and voluminous.

Brilliant! I already love Carey Mulligan's pretty short cut, but last night, she really showed off the look's versatility with a fake-out bouffant that made her hair look long and voluminous. It's a perfect style for nights out or whenever you'd just like to change things up a bit. It's also a really easy style to create — all you need is a teasing comb, hair spray, and bobby pins. So to find out how to fake Carey's big, sexy hair, just keep reading.

Love It or Hate It? Alicia Keys's Mile-High Bouffant

Alicia Keys has always been notable for her love of vintage styling, and it's fun to see what she comes up with, whether it's a complicated fishtail braid or Ava Gardner curls.

Alicia Keys has always been notable for her love of vintage styling, and it's fun to see what she comes up with, whether it's a complicated fishtail braid or Ava Gardner curls. Last night at a screening of Biutiful, Alicia debuted this high-topped beehive with a retro swirl in the front. She's always wearing looks from the first half of the 20th century, but does this one work?

Japan Is a Hair-Raising Place

I have no idea what this Japanese commercial for Seiyu stores is saying, but the hair is awesome.

I have no idea what this Japanese commercial for Seiyu stores is saying, but the hair is awesome. It reminds me of Marie Antoinette's enormous sculptural hairstyles, which took the French court by storm and had to have wire underpinnings and horse hair padding. Apparently, though, this commercial is poking fun at himegyaru style, a subculture of girls who wear huge bouffants and dress like princesses. Either way, that Japonica seed updo is calling my name. Check it out.

Build a Bouffant with Bust

I know some of you are already fans of Bust magazine (I'm willing to bet money that Krampalicious is a long-time reader like me).

I know some of you are already fans of Bust magazine (I'm willing to bet money that Krampalicious is a long-time reader like me). But since it's an independent magazine that isn't carried all over the place, it might be new to some of you. If you like smart stories and saucy sex advice and fashion spreads that have curvy girls as well as slim ones, you'll like it a lot.

Every issue has a quirky and fun beauty how-to story, and the new one is a big tease. Literally. It's a step-by-step guide to recreating Amy Winehouse's bouffant, and unsurprisingly, it's not a five-minute project. You know you're in for a hairy adventure when a story begins by suggesting that you purchase a hairpiece. Fortunately, the instructions are easy to follow, so even novices can figure it out.

Even if you're not as high-drama as Amy Winehouse, you could always work this 'do for Halloween, which isn't too far away. Check out this preview of the story below to get an idea of what the look is like. (The magazine isn't at big stores like Target, but it's easily available at indie bookstores, Borders, and Barnes and Noble). If you try out this hairstyle, let me know how it goes—I think it would be fun to post pictures of everyone's results!
