Model Lara Stone, adored by French Vogue's editor Carine Roitfeld and famed for her amazing curves and the sexy gap between her front teeth. Clearly, the prevailing uberskinny look in fashion can make even women with bodies most of us would die for feel insecure. Don't do it, Lara!

Say What? Plus-Size Model Crystal Renn Isn't Hungry Anymore

"Even though I was accomplishing my dream, I was absolutely miserable.

"Even though I was accomplishing my dream, I was absolutely miserable. I was torturing myself every day by going to the gym every day up to eight hours a day and starving myself."

— From anorexic to plus-size model and now author of the memoir Hungry, Crystal Renn tells Good Morning America how she suffered to get where she is now. She thought she had signed up for a dream job when a modeling scout told her she had the look. The catch? The 5'9" Renn was told she needed to shave nine inches from her hips and lose around 70 pounds — which she did, at one time weighing only 90 pounds. Older, wiser, and a lot less hungry, Renn should be a lesson to us all: don't lose yourself (figuratively or literally!) to make anyone else happy.

Five Fun Facts About Hand Models

Ah, a day in the life of a hand model.

Ah, a day in the life of a hand model. It's all about no cooking, no cleaning, or performing excessive actions in an effort to protect the hands. Or, in certain cases, it's all about standing in when the actress's hands aren't available. Doesn't sound too bad, does it? While, yes, it's true that these "parts models," as they're known as in the biz, take extra precautions to keep their hands looking pristine, it's more than just looking pretty for the camera.

Take hand model Ashly Covington, for instance. "I moisturize 20 to 30 times a day, and wear gloves 90 percent of the time," she told CNN. "When it's your livelihood, you've got to think hands first," she added. Find out some more interesting facts regarding this uncommon profession.

Say What? Male Model Says He Diets, Too

"I dropped 30 pounds to do this.” — A.

"I dropped 30 pounds to do this.”

— A. J. Abualrub, née Ahmad Jalal, about getting ready for the Roberto Cavalli men's fashion show in Milan. Scouted by a Ford modeling agent in his native Kentucky, the 22-year-old former high-school wrestler practices martial arts. But being athletic didn't account for the primary way he loss weight. His diet secret to fitting into leather and neoprene pants that, as Guy Trebay says, don't provide "what you would call a lot of wiggle room" was meeting with a nutritionist and eating only two meals a day. See? Some men adhere to impossible beauty standards, too.

Marisa lives by this fitness-focused health mantra: "Working out is not a luxury, it's a necessity." She works hard to stay in shape, utilizing her home gym, taking Spinning classes at the gym, boxing with a trainer, and strength training with resistance bands when she's on the road.
