Three Easy Ways to Get the Best Brows For Your Face Shape—Oval

Oval faces naturally have very balanced features, but a bad brow job can totally throw off that equanimity.

Oval faces naturally have very balanced features, but a bad brow job can totally throw off that equanimity. And even though oval girls like Lucy Liu can look great with lots of different brow shapes, there are still a few things you can do to accentuate your features and create the prettiest possible look. To find out what to do, just keep reading.

  • Keep the angle of your arch soft like Lucy does—too angular a peak won't suit you as well, and a curved eyebrow looks great on you.
  • Don't pluck too high—people sometimes say this makes an oval face look more youthful, but it'll only make you look like Cruella Deville.
  • Don't over-define your eyebrows unless you want to look like an '80s supermodel; harsh lines will look unnatural on you and change the planes of your face.

How to Apply Blush For Your Face Shape: Oval

Oval faces like Rihanna's are desirable when it comes to hair and makeup because they're the easiest to work with.

Oval faces like Rihanna's are desirable when it comes to hair and makeup because they're the easiest to work with. But the fact that your face is adaptable doesn't mean that you should always have to take generic beauty tips. To get the best blush for your face, read on.

  1. Start using a sponge or medium powder brush. Dot a circle of blush onto the highest segment of your cheekbones, the part that sticks out furthest from your face.
  2. Use a medium brush to sweep a lighter wash of blush up to your temples and a little bit up your hairline.
  3. Blend well.
  4. Apply a tiny touch of blush to the center of your chin for added definition.

Beautiful Bangs for Your Face Shape, Part III: Oval

Welcome to the third installment of Beautiful Bangs for Your Face Shape.

Welcome to the third installment of Beautiful Bangs for Your Face Shape. Celebrities such as Sarah Michelle Gellar, Beyonce, Jessica Alba, Jennifer Garner, Hillary Swank and Sarah Jessica Parker all have oval/long shaped faces. The best types of bang styles for them—or for you—are longer bangs that fall a little bit below the eyebrows.

Yet perhaps one special celeb whose bangs have evolved dramatically over the years is Halle Berry. Curious about what I mean? Check out some of her past hairstyles here.

If you have an oval face shape, you are lucky, since you can play around with many different bang options. For example, if your hair is thick, try a blunt-cut short bang. If your hair is thin, then a billowy fringe or long wisps will look great too!

The goal is to add some width and fullness at the sides so that your face looks more symmetrical. Avoid creating too much volume at the top, or you will only make your face look too drawn-out and oblong. (My mom calls this the "egghead.")

Haircuts To Flatter Your Face Shape: Part III, Long and Oval Faces

You may covet your favorite celeb's hairstyle, but if the 'do doesn't fit your face shape, you're likely to be disappointed.

You may covet your favorite celeb's hairstyle, but if the 'do doesn't fit your face shape, you're likely to be disappointed. Hence, Fabsugar's four-part series on the haircuts that best flatter your face. Welcome back for our third installment: oval faces. To read last week's advice on round faces, click here.

If you were born with an oblong or oval-shaped face, you share your facial structure with Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Hudson, Jessica Alba, and Jada Pinkett Smith. This extremely versatile face shape allows you to pull off almost any look: short, long, straight or wavy. It's not so much the length you choose that matters; it's more about the feature you want to emphasize. If it's your cheekbones, for instance, try layering chin-length hair so that it falls right at your cheeks and chin, like SJP's at left. This will create the illusion of width, which waves and curls will only emphasize.

If you want to draw attention to your lips and chin, try a choppy bob or a shoulder-skimming straight shag. For other styling ideas, read more
