Zooey Deschanel on Her Signature Bangs, Her Ultimate Haircut, and DIY Makeup

Zooey Deschanel, known for her enviably cute strands and love of all things vintage, has just been named Pantene's new celebrity spokeswoman.

Zooey Deschanel, known for her enviably cute strands and love of all things vintage, has just been named Pantene's new celebrity spokeswoman. And starting this August, she'll be representing the brand's rereleased Beautiful Lengths collection. The Beautiful Lengths program encourages women to donate their hair to create wigs for patients undergoing chemotherapy, while the products focus on growing lengthy, healthy hair (perfect for donation). In addition, the beauty brand plans to donate $1 million to the cause this year.

"I was really excited to learn about this program because when women lose their hair a lot of times they lose confidence," Zooey explains. "You can also encourage people to try a new fun short style. If I could cut my hair today I totally would. I love a Louise Brooks bob!" While Zooey won't be reaching for the shears anytime soon, she did offer some beauty advice she's garnered from doing her own styling and makeup on the road with her band, She & Him. How You Can Donate Your Hair to Patients in Need This Friday

Is it time for your annual springtime cut?

Is it time for your annual springtime cut? If you have long hair, don't let your strands go to waste; donate them to a good cause with the help of Pantene. This Friday the 27th, the hair care company will hold the first-ever National Donate Your Hair Day to benefit its Beautiful Lengths program. With the help of wig-makers HairUWear, Pantene builds real-hair pieces for women undergoing cancer treatment. The wigs are then distributed by the American Cancer Society wig banks for free. See how you can help by getting all the details now.

Product Review: Pantene Beautiful Lengths Conditioner

Pantene Beautiful Lengths Conditioner

The insane amount of traveling I've done this Summer has started to take its toll on my appearance (I've crossed the coasts twice in the last three weeks). Strict airline regulations have me carting around trial-sized samples of products that, while fun to try, are not my actual favorites. I always find solace in the fact that one of my top conditioners, Pantene Pro-V Fortifying Deep Fortifying Treatment ($5), is cheap enough to repurchase in every city. But one recent jet-lagged night, I couldn't find it in the drugstore and instead picked up the brand's new Beautiful Lengths Conditioner, partly because it supports Pantene's great anticancer campaign, and partly because I'm curious if I really need to add a new qualifier to my hair type: color-treated, wavy, dry, and . . . long?

Hilary Swank

Hilary Swank Is the New Face of Pantene Beautiful Lengths

She's already a model for Guerlain, and now Hilary Swank has signed with Pantene.

She's already a model for Guerlain, and now Hilary Swank has signed with Pantene. She'll be promoting Pantene Beautiful Lengths, a campaign that encourages people to grow, cut and donate their hair to create wigs for women who've lost their hair due to cancer. But her involvement goes beyond appearing in print PSAs; she'll be growing and donating her hair, too.

In a statement, Swank commented on how cancer has touched her life:

"I have lost multiple family members to cancer and witnessed their struggle firsthand. I've never heard of anything quite like Pantene Beautiful Lengths, and I'm proud to be asked to promote the goals of such a unique and heartfelt program... I just hope that my contribution will help to inspire others to get involved in whatever way they can."

Talk about the kindest cut! I already thought Hilary Swank was a tremendous actress, but now I have even more respect for her. Growing her hair and donating it is a relatively small gesture, but it's one that will make a huge difference for one woman. Have you ever grown your hair to donate it?
