Twinkle Shines Brightly on the Runway

Yesterday morning, FabSugarUK and I ducked into Twinkle right before it started.

Yesterday morning, FabSugarUK and I ducked into Twinkle right before it started. (Whew!) This is one show I never want to miss for two reasons. First, the clothes are fun, wearable, and budget-friendly if I find them on sale. Second, Twinkle features a diverse cast of models every single time; in February, Wenlan Chia talked about how multicultural New York is, and how she casts models according to the people in the city around her. Love that.

Watching the models come down the runway was just plain fun. The clothes, inspired by Jean Seberg, had a bouncy '60s feel. And so the hair and makeup followed. Vinyl-shine coral lips were attention-getting while still being girlish, and icy highlighter brought shimmer to the eyes. Instead of being literal with a shellacked retro updo, models sported controlled coifs with swingy pieces of hair moving with their every step. While creating a hairstyle this complex might not be realistic for most of us (at least, not on a regular day), try leaving a loose bit of hair out of your next bun or French twist for a Twinkle-esque look.

Fashion Week Quickie: Twinkle Admires Jean Seberg

Twinkle designer Wenlan Chia has her eye on iconic actress Jean Seberg.

Twinkle designer Wenlan Chia has her eye on iconic actress Jean Seberg. For Spring, her schoolgirl charm is translated to classic tailored pieces, made over with sporty elements. But she keeps things feminine with bohemian artistry. These two looks demonstrate the juxtaposition. As the designer put it: "The blend of colors, textures, vintage inspired prints, and tailored silhouettes give my collection a classic, romantic quality — reminiscent of Jean Seberg’s legacy." Cute, right?

Hills Style: Lauren Conrad

Lauren, Lo, and Audrina all joined Stephanie for her birthday party at Boulevard 3 in episode two of The Hills.

Lauren, Lo, and Audrina all joined Stephanie for her birthday party at Boulevard 3 in episode two of The Hills. Stephanie may have been the birthday girl, but all eyes were on Lauren who was wearing multiple colors in her Twinkle by Wenlan Picasso dress. The dress is enough to stand for itself, but what you can't see in the photo are the just-as-cool gold strappy sandals and gold clutch. For the full look, click here or just shop below.

Long Lengths for S/S 08

Maybe you haven't shaved your legs, maybe your planning some laying-in-the-grass time, or maybe you just feel like having some extra fabric floating as you stride.

Maybe you haven't shaved your legs, maybe your planning some laying-in-the-grass time, or maybe you just feel like having some extra fabric floating as you stride. The maxi dress appears every season (sometimes abundantly so ) because the shape compliments many body types and many activities. Although this season, everyone's screaming about other trends and patterns, the maxi dress has definitely made more than one appearance. Here are our favorites, by Twinkle, Chris Han, Sue Stemp, and Yigal Azrouel.

Dress You Up! Maxi Dresses

Ok so this first model in a serious maxi dress looks like a tree, but that is the effect the longest dress of all can help one achieve.

Ok so this first model in a serious maxi dress looks like a tree, but that is the effect the longest dress of all can help one achieve. I was actually just on a hunt for a maxi dress and ended up scoring an awesome black silk Corey Lynn Calter one. I wore it to Fashion Week Live last month. I gotta tell ya, I stood out (in a good way) amongst all the legs and got several compliments. My analysis: maxi dresses are the next 'It' dress. After all, the only way to go after the mini dress is down, way down. I wore mine with some exotic flats because I am tall; if you're on the shorter side, these look retro redone with a solid pair of wood-heeled wedges.
