Cornrows Get a High-Fashion Update at Marchesa

For Marchesa Fall 2014, we expected red-carpet-worthy beauty, but there were a few exciting surprises, too. Mark Hampton with Toni&Guy Hair Meet Wardrobe created two different hairstyles that came down the runway. The first was the typical midheight bun with mussed flyways that's sure to be popular come wedding season. The other look was a half-up involving cornrows. The braids were quite the contradiction to the glamorous gowns the models were wearing on the catwalk.

The makeup was soft and sweet. Gucci Westman used lipstick and illuminator to accent the cheeks but added a pop of color on the eyes. Each model wore a blue or green streak across lids depending on her eye color. The goal was "Scottish country girl mixed with a Maharaja princess." Westman used Revlon Colorstay Skinny Liquid Liner (available this Spring) to get the crisp shape. Lead manicurist Jin Soon Choi applied one coat of Revlon x Marchesa Gray Suede (available September 2014) for the illusion of a bare nail.
