My hair is wavy. not straight, not curly. This stuff is awesome if you like to air dry. straight out the shower, i rub some in my palm and then rub it through my wet hair. Then i start twirling some hair together with my finger and let it air dry and its awesome. DOWNSIDE: the actual texture of the stuff its goopy and feels gross in your hands. BUT when its in your wet hair, I guess it dilutes it and my hair feels like beach hair Smiling it really does give it the surf hair feel!

I really like this product. Even though it doesn't do much for me in creating that "beach" look (I have to do a lot of scrunching and use a lot of product to get any effect), it is a great styling product, and it helps smooth out pin straight blow outs, or holding intricate styles in place.

This is kind of a difficult product to use, but whenever you use it correctly it works out really well. I have wavy hair and it does an awesome job of making "beachy" hair. I have to use this on wet hair. Whenever I tried it out on dry hair it made my hair look really greasy. Also, you have to be careful to only use a tiny bit of product, because again, this makes my hair super greasy if I use too much. It took some time and playing around with it, but whenever I figured out when and how much to use on my hair, it looked great.

I had been hooked on Jonathon Product "Dirt" for quite some time, but wanted a budget version of my favorite hair product. I wear my long, wavy hair with long layers and side bangs, so I like a beach-y, tousled look to go along with that style. Dirt is great, but I wanted something that a) I wouldn't mind that airport security in Germany decided to take away (seriously. it's not a liquid.) b) didn't hurt my wallet and c) I could sometimes use more of and not cross the dangerous/oft-precarious line of greaseball. I brought Surf Wax with me on a month-long vacation this summer and luuuuuuurved it. The real test was that it was awesome even away from the beach. I've been hooked for about 4 months now and am impressed at how long each tub lasts--with daily use I'm still on my second tub. Surf Wax rocks! And smells nice.

Also, for the "only use a little" comment--I agree. But I also found that if you quick rinse your hands after applying the paste, it's not biggie. Then scrunch the product through your hair one more time (with hands still wet) and it uses up the extra product on your hands and sets the style a little more.

only use a little

I wish I had read miemo's review before playing with it and stashing it in the bottom of my drawer! I liked it but found the feel on my hands too gross and it looks very dirty when used on dry hair. My advise is to use a little and I'll have to play with it on wet hair to give it a better chance!
