i love that this is not a lipstick but more of a tinted treatment. it's chic and comfortable thanks to an infusion of vitamin e and leaves behind a subtle flush reminiscent of snow white’s rosebud lips with a glossy sheen. best of all, it’s mirror-optional and looks different on everyone.

Seriously amazing!

The name, the picture, the color, the backstory, and some rave reviews convinced me to buy it, but when I did, it was love at first try! Since Medieval is ostensibly a lipstain, it's quite sheer, but still very red - a confounding combination that I simply adore, as I can get away with wearing red *and* looking completely natural at the same time, which I never thought would be possible! It's actually much more balm-y than stain-y: it doesn't really properly stain, but it moisturizes the lips very nicely, and doesn't dry out too fast. A single coat is my preferred way of wearing it (it's a more matte and natural look), but multiple layers add a bit of gloss if you prefer. All in all, super versatile and awesome. I keep mine in my pencil case for whenever (lectures!), wherever (libraries!) touchups.

My go-to lipstick

Between the name, packaging, and Blogdorf Goodman reviews I had to try Medieval. I love it. While it looks vampy red in the package, I think it's similar to Clinque's Black Cherry in that it looks good on everyone, and can go with just about any look. It does resemble a stain more than a lipstick, but it isn't drying. I highly recommend, and I can't wait to try more from Lipstick Queen.

I ordered this from Barneys (see my rant about how they sent it to me here, if you are interested: http://teamsugar.com/group/88093/blog/2601307 ). I have heard so many great things about Lipstick Queen, I was dying to try it out and the packaging on this one caught my attention and I was intrigued by the name. When I first opened it, I thought "OMG - what have I bought??", the color is very similar to blood! I thought that there was no way it was going to look good on me, but figured I might as well try it. I was so surprised! It was sheerer than I thought it would be, and not nearly as shocking or dark! It is more like a stain than a lipstick. The texture is creamy and soft and it wasn't drying to my lips at all (unlike most lipsticks I have tried). This will be put into heavy rotation in my makeup routine! I can't recommend it enough, especially for gals who want to wear read, but are a bit timid! I would suggest, however, ordering from a source OTHER than Barney's....
