It's been a while since we've seen Marc Jacobs as subdued as he was at this year's presentation of his Marc by Marc Jacobs line at Fall New York Fashion Week. (What, no
reverse-heeled shoes?) While I love that he chose to use pretty and flattering shades of pink on his model's lips, the otherwise bare faces and slicked-back ponytails do little to spice up the overall look. What do you think of this toned-down Marc?

I like it!
So fresh and clean! So everyday!
Bella, who is that waif looking model that is always like in every runway? The one that is on the left. Seriously!
I agree, so fresh!
It's actually a look that I think would work better in real life, on people who have a bit of color to their cheeks and life in their eyes. At first I thought I hated the look, but I think it's more that the blandness of the models was throwing me off.
I loved the lip colors, especially the one in the middle but overall, the girls looked like corpses. If I showed up at work looking like that, people would think I was sick and my boss would send me home! Hmm, on second thought...maybe I do like it!
I think it looks refreshing since all of Hollywood is tanned/oranged, lots of makeup and overall plastic. The models look natural (I agree some blush would do wonders though!). Love the lips!
Oh how I love Marc! ♥
It's just not that interesting. I expect a lot of creativity from the looks I see on the runway, both in terms of makeup and the actual collections, and this just doesn't seem terribly novel to me. It kind of reminds me of grade school girls experimenting with mommy's lipstick; the shades don't compliment the model's complexions enough to be "pretty" but the overall look is too bland to be "theatrical." Perhaps if the lipstick/stain finish was more glossy it wouldn't look so dull.
I think they look really pretty without all that garish over the top makeup on. It's a huge departure from usual runway makeup, but I like it.
Why shouldn't the clothes and the models' natural good looks take center stage? Love it!
Love! Now that is a runway look that you can recreate in real life and look fab not weird! Love MJ!!
i love the stained lip
LOVE!
I think it's pretty and simplistic harking back to the 90s minimalism days.
it doesn't distract from the clothing this way, and the lips look beautiful
i'm partial to the 'plain' look - i think that it doesn't detract from the clothes and i like the look since it's not extreme makeup
Totally BLAH
no warm, happy feeling here
a little too simple here especially for the runway but looks nice.
Love it fresh looking
