For one of us, it was the best of times, for the other, it was the worst of times. (Well, not that bad.) Two members from Team Bella had two very different experiences after trying the new Stay Don't Stray ($24), the new paraben-free multitasking primer from Benefit. This moisturizing pre-makeup, which also includes vitamins C and E, is applied on both the under-eye area and lids to give concealers and eye shadows long-lasting, crease-free results.

Continuing our series on covering up under-eye circles once and for all, we come to the workhorse of the dark circle destroying team, the concealer. The conventional wisdom on under-eye concealers is that you use something thick, with yellow undertones and as much long-wearing capability as you can get. And while this is certainly not a bad school of thought, there lots of other options that include interesting twists on the old standard.

Earlier this week, I shared with you eleven great lip glosses. While Paula Dorf's Lip Slides ($20) didn't meet the under $15 criteria, reader Ineedcaffeine, who is not really a gloss kind of girl, found one that works for her.
Ever since MAC Lipglass made my hair stick to my mouth, I have been turned off by lip gloss, and instead I went for lipsticks with some lip balm over it, or just chapstick.

Do you remember that show from the '80s, Webster, where there was always some kind of "very special episode"? Perhaps the coolest part of that show was the secret passageway through the grandfather clock in the living room, where Webster would hide when the timing was right. While a revolving bookcase or hidden corridor might not be as feasible in real life, some of these makeup items might have you reminiscing about hidden compartments and secret hideaways.

Scunci Classic Pins ($1.29) were a staple for me growing up, and I still go through a whole heck of a lot of bobby pins, but different pins work well or less well depending on your hair type, as reader bellazmom found out. She says:
"Maybe I need more practice, but these seem to slip out of my daughter's hair. She needs to wear a bun for ballet, and while I am no stylist, it seems like they slide around in her hair.

September is one of those lovely in-between times; Summer cools down and slides nicely into the prettiest part of Fall. It's also, though, the big beauty transition month. Between school starting, cooler weather, Fashion Week, and all the new product releases, September is always a wild ride.

How far would you go to get a job? While actresses are used to altering their voices and demeanor to fit their characters, some change their physical appearance for a role. That's dedication.

Next month, Urban Decay is launching Pocket Rocket lip gloss, which aims to be a super-sexy way to show off your lips. The packaging is reminiscent of those kitschy ball-point pens from the '60s — you'd tip them, and a lady's clothes would magically disappear. This time, though, it's men who are being objectified, as eight dudes' outfits seem to slide off when the lip gloss is moved around.
