How-To: Miley Cyrus's Oscar Makeup

Miley Cyrus appeared at the Oscars looking very simple and sophisticated - a welcome change from how we've seen her lately. Her fresh and shimmery makeup was the perfect balance to her striking red gown.

Dior makeup artist Pati Dubroff was inspired by "Miley's radiant youth" and wanted to create a look that was "all about glowing, gorgeous skin with flushed cheeks and a popsicle-stained mouth."

Face: At 15, Miley didn't need much more than a little concealer and some Benefit BeneTint cheek stain for that natural flush.
Eyes: Pati wanted the glamour of the look to be in Miley's eyes, so she loaded her lashes with multiple coats of Dior Diorshow Mascara in Black, and finished off with a coat of Blue to complement Miley's eyes. For shadow, just a sweep of Dior 1-Couleur Powder Eyeshadow in Icy White.
Lips: For that popsicle-stained look, Pati used Dior Addict High Shine Lipstick in Flamenco Red.
Finishing Touch: To top off the look, Pati dusted Miley's face with Make Up Forever Glitter for that "Disney princess come to life" feel.

How-To: Nicole Kidman's Oscars Makeup

Nicole Kidman turns up on the red carpet with a flawless hair and makeup combo each and every time. Last night, she showed up at the Oscars in soft, feminine makeup and a pretty sideswept bun.

Her makeup artist for the evening, Angela Levin, created Nicole's look with Chanel products. To find out how to get this look for yourself, read more.

Face: Nicole's skin was given a light layer of foundation and a touch of concealer to even out her skin tone.
Eyes: Angela wanted to give Nicole a dramatic, smoky eye. To do this, she used Chanel Soft Touch Eyeshadows in Silvery and Ebony on the lids, and then lined the eyes with Chanel Le Crayon Khol Intense Eye Pencil in Graphite and Noir to make Nicole's sky-blue eyes really pop. She finished off the eyes with a generous coating of Chanel Inimitable Mascara in Noir.
Lips: Angela painted Nicole's pout in a soft, pretty shade of pink by using Chanel Rouge Allure in Darling.

Red Carpet Oscar Faceoff Fun Time!

How-To: Jennifer Garner's Oscars Hair

Jennifer Garner strutted the red carpet last night in a sophisticated and loose sideswept hairstyle, balanced out by a sexy, smoky eye and luxe jewelry. Her hair stylist for the evening, Adir Abergel for Frederic Fekkai, gave me the scoop on how he achieved this look for the big night.

"The inspiration came to me when I first saw the dress on her, during her fitting with Rachel Zoe," he explained. "The dress had a very similar vibe to the hair that we ended up doing: a clean, chic, heavy side-parted bang, with a romantic knotted low twist in the back. Jennifer loved the idea and we ran with it. I knew that she wanted it up, and the rest was a fun collaborative team effort."

Step 1: On wet hair, work a styling product from root to tip to help give hair texture. Adir used Fekkai Coiff Shape and Set Mist.
Step 2: Part hair three-quarters of the way on one side, up from the outer corner of your eye. Blow-dry small sections at a time with a round brush and pin back each one as you go along. Adir let Jennifer's hair set for about 10 minutes.
Step 3: Using a 1-inch curling iron, curl the entire head of hair and allow to cool, then finish with a misting of Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray.
Step 4: Leaving the severe side bang out, gather the rest of the hair at the nape of the neck. Wrap it into a loose bun and pin in place. Pull out a few more strands around either side of the face.

How-To: Jessica Alba's Oscars Makeup

Jessica Alba positively glowed in a deep aubergine dress and beautiful braids on the Oscars red carpet last night. I hope the show wasn't too long for her to sit through; that belly bump sure looks like it's growing by the second!

Jessica followed her own lead from last year and chose a radiant and stunning subdued makeup look. For product suggestions and application techniques on how to create her makeup look at home, read more.

Face: Begin by applying a creamy concealer under your eyes, to the sides of your nose, and to any red areas on your face. Next, blend a tan-toned tinted moisturizer such as Dior Bronze Tinted Moisturizer SPF 10 all over your face and neck and set your skin with a loose powder such as Bare Escentuals Tinted Mineral Veil.
Cheeks: You'll want to create a slight contour, yet soft golden cheek for this look so I suggest blending the two brown shades from the Scott Barnes Chic Palette in Sundance together just under your cheekbones and then highlight the top part of your cheeks with the gold, shimmery shade. As a finishing touch, dust a touch of apricot blush like Maybelline Expert Wear Blush in Rose Silk on the apples of your cheeks for softness and warmth.
Eyes: It looks like Jessica is wearing several shades of bronze, gold, and brown on her eyes. A perfect palette for creating this kind of warm, neutral smoky is DuWop's Brown Eyes Shadow Palette. When you are finishing blending your base and crease colors, add a touch of a highlighter like Too Faced Shimmer Veils in Angel Hair on the inner corners of the eyes. Line your top and lower lashline with dark brown cream liner. Finish with two coats of deep brown or black mascara.
Lips: This look demands a shiny, but very sheer lip look. I suggest lining your entire lip with a neutral liner such as DuWop's Neutral Lip Pencil in Teardrop and then top it off with DuWop's Venom Flash in Gold. This will create fullness and a touch of sparkle.

How-To: Marion Cotillard's Oscars Hair

The belle Marion Cotillard is sitting pretty right now. Her Oscar win means that we'll be seeing a lot more of this Gallic gal, and considering that she's as stylish as she is talented, that's a good thing for all of us. Last night, she looked softly stunning; I especially loved how her soft, flowing curls framed her face. Stylist Robert Vetica for Frederic Fekkai gave me the scoop on how he created this look.

"Marion changes her look a lot simply because I think she can," he said of his inspiration. "Her beauty lies in the spirit with which she carries herself. Step one: First, apply a protective styling serum or spray to give hair shine and hold; Robert used Fekkai Coiff Shape and Set Mist ($28) on Marion.

Step two: Blow-dry hair smooth in the desired direction. In Marion's case, Robert gave her a deep left part. The left side was blown away from her face and from that same part, it was dried side to front on the right side.

Step three: Take a 3/4-inch barrel curling iron, and create sections around the perimeter of the head at the neck. Start curling on the left, behind the ear, working around the back.

Step four: When you get to the front, curl the hair front and sideways towards the back. Robert's tip: "To really achieve this loose wave, curl big sections." Finish with hairspray; Robert used Fekkai Coiff Fini Sheer Hold ($23) on Marion's hair.

How-To: Penelope Cruz's Oscars Makeup

At last night's Oscars ceremony, Penelope Cruz looked positively stunning with her lightly smoky eye and clean, fresh face. I got the scoop from Rachel Goodwin, her makeup artist for the evening, on how she created Penelope's glowing red carpet look.

Rachel was inspired by Penelope's simple yet chic dress, but wanted to add a flair to her look with the makeup. To find out how to recreate the look at home, read more.

Face: Start with clean, moisturized skin and apply a touch of foundation primer to the apples of your cheeks, forehead, and chin where shine tends to show up. Apply light foundation with a tapered makeup sponge. Rachel used Chanel Teint Innocence Foundation in Soft Honey.
Eyes: Penelope's eyes are the centerpiece of this gorgeous look. To start, Rachel created a navy cat-eye with Chanel Precision Eye Definer in Blue Jean, then smudged a navy shadow from the Chanel Quadra Eyeshadow in Bleu Celeste on top of the liner to create a smudged, smoky line.
Cheeks: The key to a smoky eye is going easy on the rest of the face, so for this look Rachel kept the cheeks practically bare, a light dusting of bronzer for definition is all you need.
Lips: Ditto on the lips; bare is best with this look. Rachel enhanced Penelope's natural lip color with Chanel Rouge Allure in Naive.
Et voila! Rachel set the look and added a luminous glow with a light dusting of Chanel Poudre Cristalline.
