How-To: Megan Fox's Hair at the 2009 Golden Globe Awards

I've gotta hand it to Megan Fox for this hairstyle. Whether or not you're a fan of this actress or the look, it definitely seems like a hard one to pull off. From the front, it appears like any other slicked-back style, but it's actually a French twist created with two sections instead of just one. Apply Fekkai Coiff Controle to damp hair, then brush and dry it.
Section the top of the hair aside and tease the bottom all the way around.
Add Pomade Cristal and create texture by pulling the bottom portion of the hair to one side and twist. Secure with pins.
Join the top portion of hair to the rest of the hair by following in the direction of the twist, tucking and pinning it all away.
Finish off the super sleek look with Glossing Sheer Shine Mist.

How-To: Christina Applegate's Hair at the 2009 Golden Globes

Last night, Christina Applegate stepped out in a sunshiny, strapless Roberto Cavalli gown with gorgeous necklace to bring out the yellow hue . . . and a glowing face, too. With long bangs falling over her forehead, she chose a sophisticated yet casual style playing up her hair's short length and natural texture. After you check out the makeup tutorial, have a look at stylist Ken Paves's tips for recreating this look at home:

Starting with wet hair, spray Ken Paves Healthy Hair Volumizing Spray at the roots and use a blow dryer while tousling hair with fingers to create lift and add texture.
Just before the hair is completely dry, finish the edges using a teaser-type brush (like this Spornette mixed-bristle brush).
Once dry, add more volumizing spray and collect the hair back with a larger, mixed bristle brush – Paves chose a Mason Pearson for this part - so luxurious.
Use hair pins to keep short hair twisted up and finish off the look with just a couple sprays of Ken Paves Healthy Hair Strong Hold Shaping Spray – don't overdo it unless you want helmet head!

How-To: Salma Hayek's Makeup at the Golden Globes

You were applauding Salma Hayek's makeup and hair last night, and I've got to agree. The sexy 42-year-old (can you believe it?) mixed old Hollywood with a contemporary twist for this sophisticated look - one that was directly inspired by her Dior dress.

Nars makeup artist Matthew Vanleeuwen said, “I made her eyes the focus and added a lot of rich, jewel skin tones and fresh color to her cheeks and lips. Her look was very classic and chic, with some modern textures.” Wowza. To see what shades and techniques he chose, read more.

Eyes: To the top and bottom lash line, Vanleeuwen applied Single Eye Shadow in China Blue ($22). Next, Cream Eye Shadow in Corfu ($21) was used as a base, all over the eyelid. The golden champagne side of the Duo Eye Shadow in Alhambra ($32) was applied to the lid, and Single Eye Sadow in Bengali ($22) was placed all along the lash line and smudged. For a smoky effect, he went back over the lash line with Single Eye Shadow in Night Clubbing ($22). Two coats of black mascara finished off the look.
Lips: Vanleeuewen used Lipliner Pencil in Marnie ($20) and Tutti Frutti Lipstick ($24).
Blush: He applied Blush in Desire ($24) to the apple of cheeks and Bronzer Powder in Laguna ($29) from the back of cheekbone forward.

How-To: Anne Hathaway's Hair at the Golden Globes

Anne Hathaway's alabaster skin, raspberry lips, and pulled-back chignon were a hit last night. I already gave you the details on her classic makeup, and now I've got the how-to on that right-on-trend slick, chic hair. Adir Abergel of Frederic Fekkai styled Hathaway's hair with clean lines and clean texture. Take a look at his technique below:
Apply Coiff Bouffant Lifting & Texturizing Spray Gel ($23) from roots to ends. Next, comb hair into a very deep side part and thoroughly dry with a large round brush. Then, gather hair in a low ponytail, applying Magnifique Ultra-Light Finishing Creme ($23) for shine and texture. Secure with an elastic holder at the nape, and tuck the ponytail underneath. Some bobby pins and hair pins will keep it in place. To complete this old Hollywood look, spray it with Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray ($23).

How-To: Eva Longoria Parker's Hair at the 2009 Golden Globes

With such a show-stopping frock, I was glad to see a simpler hairstyle not try to compete with her Reem Acra gown and floral diamond buds. Personally, I think her look is lovely, so I'm glad to share this hairstyle with you.

Taking inspiration from 70's icon Ali MacGraw, Ken Paves created her simply timeless look. The key is to keep things straight and shiny, so find out how he did it when you read more.

Start with towel-dried hair and add a serum like Ken Paves Healthy Hair Shine Serum.
Part down the middle and blow-dry straight with a mixed-bristle brush (like a Mason Pearson).
Flat iron the hair and for added sleekness and pull low and tight before securing with an elastic. Wrap some hair around the base of the ponytail to hide the band, if desired.
For added shine, add more serum but leave a little texture around the hairline (i.e., don't slick hair back super-straight). This prevents the look from becoming too severe.
Help the look stay all day, or night, by finishing up with hairspray such as Ken's Healthy Hair Strong Hold Shaping Spray, which he used on Eva.

How-To: Debra Messing's Makeup at the Golden Globe Awards

Whether you loved it or hated it, you've got to hand it to Debra Messing for going a bit bolder with her color scheme last night, particularly when it came to those heavily lined peepers.

The founder of Lorac Cosmetics, Carol Shaw, was the makeup artist behind Messing's look. She applied sultry green and black accents, which complemented Messing's midnight blue Zac Posen gown, keeping the cheeks and lips soft and neutral. And I've got the how-to when you read more.

Eyeshadow: To create that interesting peacock effect, the first shade of Color Me Couture Eyeshadow Palette ($37) was applied from lash to brow. Next, the third eye shade - a warm rosy gold - was swept on the lid and outer corner. Then, the jade green shade was used on the lid and crease, intensified even further with an application of Eyeshadow in Green Room ($17) over it. Black eyeshadow was used on the outer corner of the eyes and crease, and also to connect the bottom and top lash lines.
Eyeliner: Shaw lined the upper lash line with a liquid liner called Front of the Line Eyeliner in Black ($20). Then, a black eye pencil was used inside the eye for further contrast. To tie the look together, she smudged Green Room Eyeshadow under the eye for a sultry finish.
Cheeks: The Hot & Spicy Blush/Bronzer Duo ($28.50) peach shade was used as a blush, and the bronzer was used to contour.
Lips: Shaw lined Messing's lips with Pencil for Lips in #18, a light rosy nude, and applied Couture Shine Lip Gloss in Trend Setter ($22), a pearly peach shade.

How-To: Kate Winslet's Makeup at the 2009 Golden Globe Awards

A big winner last night (picking up Golden Globes for Best Dramatic Actress and Best Supporting Actress), Kate Winslet looked equally award-winning on the red carpet in her black YSL gown. As she accepted her statues, you may have noticed her lovely nails – that's Lippman Rhapsody in White.

Eyes: Use a pencil eyeliner like Jillian Dempsey for Avon Professional Kohl Eyeliner to define the lash line. Dempsey chose black on the upper lash line, then a dark brown on the lower lashes and gently smudged both. Next, lightly dust the eyelid with a neutral shade like Lancôme Color Design Eye Shadow in Chic. Finish off the look with a couple coats of black mascara.
Lips: A subtle eye gives you more flexibility for a brighter lip like this classic red color – the exact shade Kate wears is Avon Pro-to-Go Lipstick in Cherry Glisten, but you should pick the best red to suit your complexion at home.

How-To: Miley Cyrus's Makeup at the Golden Globe Awards

When you're sixteen years old, the most flattering makeup is fresh and light, much like Miley Cyrus's look at the Golden Globes. Makeup artist Mai Quynh, working with Mark cosmetics, created this easy look for the teenage superstar. I like it on the red carpet, but it would be just as appropriate with jeans and a tee. Here's how to steal Miley's makeup look:

Face: For everyday wear, stick with a tinted moisturizer that lets your skin show through. Use a sheer cheek stain (Miley wore Just Pinched Instant Blush Tint in Nude) on the apples of cheeks. Let your cheeks capture the light by applying luminizer or a sheer gold powder blush such as Golden Glo.
Eyes: Create the appearance of larger eyes by sweeping shimmery eye shadow on the inner V of your eyelids. (Quynh used Shimmer Cubes in Moonlight and Shimmer Bars in Twilight on Miley.) Then, use a shimmery bronze eye shadow in the creases of the eyelid; use the same color to line the bottom lash line. Follow with black mascara.
Lips: Quynh played up Miley's lips in two steps. First, she applied Gleamstick in Platonic, a neutral pinky brown. She followed with a sheer pink gloss - in this case, Glow Baby Glow gloss in Smooches.

How-To: Freida Pinto's Makeup at the Golden Globe Awards

It was all about the underdog last night, as Slumdog Millionaire was the big winner at the 2009 Golden Globe Awards. And the film's young star, Freida Pinto, was most definitely a winner with this look. With you calling her "gorgeous," "stunning," and "a natural beauty," you were clearly digging her total ensemble.

Want to play celebrity makeup artist at home? Well, thanks to Jeffery Paul, who created Pinto's fresh look, you can try your hand a recreating her glowing makeup using champagne, pinks, and gold accents from Jouer cosmetics:

Eyes: Paul smudged Eye Definer in Vert ($20), a green liner with gold flecks, very close to the lashes, adding Eye Shadow in Amaretto ($20), a shimmering bronzed taupe, in the crease of the eyelid.
Face: For a soft effect, foundation and concealer were mixed together and applied only where needed. Next, Crème Highlighter in Champagne ($20) was dabbed on the brow bone and cheekbones for shimmer and definition.
Lips: To complete the look, Paul applied Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Monsoon $20. He pulled out that Crème Highlighter in Champagne ($20) once more, using it to bring further definition to Pinto's full lips. Multitaskers - my favorite.

How-To: Hayden Panettiere's Golden Globes Glow

Hayden Panettiere is a consistent hit on the red carpet, and most of you loved her makeup at the Golden Globe Awards. Makeup artist Amy Oresman created this look for the Neutrogena Natural Radiance Bronzer in Sunkissed, sweeping it through the crease of her eyelid, on her cheekbones, and down to her clavicle. To further warm up Hayden's face, she used a round brush to apply two shades of Neutrogena Soft Color Blush (Sunny Spice and Divine Wine) to the apples of her cheeks. If you like, finish with a soft tap of bronzer on your nose - you'll look as though you've just had an afternoon in the sun.
