The Secret to Kate Beckinsale's Romantic Waves

Kate Beckinsale always has perfect, glossy, frizz-free waves that break across her shoulders in just the right place. Clearly, having Frédéric Fekkai's Adir Abergel on hand is a big help, but there's also a trick to getting these kind of waves right. For Kate's hair at the Underworld: Awakening premiere, Abergel says that the key to creating her soft curls was starting low.

Specifically, he prepped the hair with the brand's Coiff Bouffant Lifting & Texturizing Spray Gel on the roots and the Highlight Care Illuminating Cream on the ends. After blow-drying, he then used a one-inch curling iron to wrap strands of Kate's hair starting two inches away from her roots. That way, she had a smooth-on-top look with silky waves below. It's a simple tip, but it makes a big difference. Abergel's other advice? For a look like this, curl away from your face.

To create Anne's retro waves, Frederic Fekkai Stylist Adir Abergel applied Fekkai Advanced Full Blown Styling Whip ($23) and sprayed Fekkai Coiff Bouffant Lifting & Texturizing Spray Gel ($23) from her roots to the ends of her hair. Next, he blow-dried her hair lightly with his hands, letting her natural wave surface. With a one inch barrel curling iron, he curled the hair away from her face, placing it into pin curls. Adir let her hair cool, and as he took the pin curls out, let the hair fall naturally into place with a messy center part.

For Anne's makeup, Chanel makeup artist Kate Lee used Fluid Iridescent Eyeshadow in Sand ($32) on her eyes, and on her lips she used Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Mademoiselle ($32) topped with Coco Shine in Bel Ami (available in April).
