It's Official: Aerin Lauder Is Going Solo

Rumors have been swirling all week about Aerin Lauder possibly departing the family business. Today, the details have been released. Aerin, the granddaughter of Estée Lauder, is launching her own lifestyle brand. Aptly called Aerin, the luxury lifestyle brand will include a beauty collection to be sold at select Estée Lauder counters beginning in 2012. She'll continue to serve as an Estée Lauder global brand ambassador and spokesperson while developing her own brand. Judging by her favorite spots in Paris, expect nothing but high style and impeccable taste.

Estée Lauder Says Bienvenue to Its New Faces

When Estée Lauder welcomes new people into its family, it does so in a big way. Spokesmodel Constance Jablonski and Creative Makeup Director Tom Pecheux are both French, so why not celebrate with a cocktail party and dinner in Paris? I was among more than 70 editors hosted by the brand at the launch of its new limited-edition Pure Color Night collection. Champagne flowed freely as style icons such as Aerin Lauder, Hilary Rhoda, and Vogue Paris editor Carine Roitfeld celebrated the launch of Pecheux's first makeup collection for the brand. L'Espace Pierre Premier was transformed into a makeup wonderland, with previews of Pecheux's forthcoming Pure Color lip glosses, eye shadow palettes, and nail polishes. It was also decorated with dreamy Frenchmen, if that's your thing. (It is very much mine.)

Why such a grand affair? This is the first time that Estée Lauder has officially attached another name to its brand, and Pecheux aims to expand the makeup's appeal to younger women without alienating its loyal fans. To that end, the three-piece Pure Color Night collection comprises a light rose lip gloss, a smoky eye shadow trio, and an illuminating face powder that is blowing my mind. (Think your skin, but with a lit-from-within glow.) Inspired by Parisian women, the collection is available almost exclusively in Paris; only a handful of units will be available at Selfridges (the Oxford Street location in London) and Bergdorf Goodman next month.

So what's next? Pecheux's fall Blue Dahlia collection hints at a sexy, sultry direction. Expect cool violet and dark blue eye shadow hues, and a lavender nail polish that was the talk of partiers young, old, and in between. And that's exactly how Pecheux wants it. "This is makeup for any woman, of any age," he told me before dinner. "A young woman might wear it, her mother might wear it - even her grandmother if she's daring." It won't be long until we find out.

Aerin Lauder Takes Center Stage

Aerin Lauder is set to be the face of Estee Lauder's new fragrance called Private Collection. She is excited to represent the modern version of her grandmother's most intimate scent, yet she's also a little but timid about exposing her mug in the public eye. According to an interview in British Vogue, Aerin is a private person who doesn't like to expose herself or her family to the scrutiny attached to her famous name.

She is hoping that the demure photograph taken by Craig McDean-one that is intended to resemble one of the more famous photographs ever of Estèe Lauder by Chicago photographer Victor Skrebneski-will give a warm, special and personal touch to the fragrance without putting too much emphasis on herself.

Aerin certainly has some big shoes to fill considering she is following beauties such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Elizabeth Hurley, Carolyn Murphy and Anja Rubik as fragrance models for the company. But something tells me she'll be able to pull it off seamlessly. And now, she's also free to add model to her resume, which is currently headed with Vice President and Creative Director of Estee Lauder. Wow, don't some women make having it all look so easy!

When your last name is Muse, modeling almost seems like an inevitable career choice. Named after the state in which she was born, 23-year-old Arizona Muse has stacked up an impressive résumé of work over her relatively short career including her newest gig as the new face Estée Lauder. "Arizona has quickly become one of fashion's most recognized faces, on the runway, in magazines. and in fashion campaigns," said the brand's style and image director, Aerin Lauder, adding, "She has the timeless elegance that will make her a fashion and beauty icon of her generation."

Arizona, who has walked runways such as Dior, Chanel, and Carolina Herrera, joins the Estée Lauder ranks alongside spokeswomen Elizabeth Hurley, Constance Jablonski, and Liu Wen. Aerin Lauder has just launched a new ultra-feminine fragrance called Estee Lauder Tuberose Gardenia Private Collection. The scent bears the same name as the 1973 Private Collection fragrance which Estee had originally created for herself. Like her grandmother, Aerin initially created this scent for herself and her girlfriends. It became so popular within her social set that she decided to bring the scent to the masses.

Lucky for us, because its powerful and full-bodied mix of neroli, lilac, rosewood, tuberose, gardenia, orange flower, jasmine, white lily, carnation and vanilla bourbon is too good to be kept on the down-low. This perfume has serious lasting power, and the floral and woodsy blend is a perfect way to transition from summer to fall.

The exquisite packaging is thoughtful and even sentimental. Like all of Estee Lauder products, gold is the dominant color. This collection has been crafted from clear, heavy square glass bottles with gold caps. The eau de parfum sprays have hammered caps inspired by a necklace that was given to Aerin from her grandmother. The perfume spray and the solid perfume are encrusted with semi-precious gems (aventurine, yellow and green jade, citrine, lemon and mustard stones) which were inspired by a Josef Hoffmann brooch.

The fragrances are available online and at few select high-end stores. The prices are in line with a fancy fragrance: $300 for a one ounce parfum, $120 for a 2.5 oz eau de parfum, $65 for a one ounce eau de parfum, $175 for a solid perfume, and $75 for the body creme.
