From the runways onto department and drugstore shelves, I'm sure we'll see lots of fresh new makeup options and application techniques go full circle come March. Last month in New York, we saw six very wearable trends emerge, from peach lips to bold eyeliner to heavy-handed under-the-eye liners. But throughout the course of New York Fashion Week and other Spring 2010 shows, including Paris, London, and Milan, there were other looks that won't quite make the transition.

In just a few weeks, you'll be able to get your hands on MAC for McQueen, a 16-piece collection of color products specifically made for Alexander McQueen's fall 2007 runway show. The Cleopatra-inspired look features bold, beautiful blue and green shades—along with a few more muted naturals that you could wear in an understated way.
“Alexander McQueen was very specific about the makeup direction and I translated his ideas of Egyptian, graphic, bold colored makeup into a look that was strong yet hypnotic; which was very much in the spirit of the show,” said Charlotte Tilbury, the key makeup artist for the show.

I'm about to have a big MAC attack, because the avant-garde fashion designer Alexander McQueen is rumored to be working on a color collection for MAC.
My contacts at MAC are mum about it for now, but word on the street is that it will incorporate many of the colors that MAC artists used in McQueen's fall/winter 07 show (shown here). If that's the case, we can expect an update to Elizabeth Taylor's Cleopatra look: Egyptian eyes with kohl liner, matte green lids and well-defined brows.

Last week, we caught a glimpse of Drew Barrymore sporting this black-tipped bob while promoting her film, Whip It, in Boston. At first I wasn't sure if the dipped-in-black look was a permanent fixture in the actress's ever-changing look, but judging from her appearance earlier today at the 2009 Toronto Film Festival, it looks like these deep, dark raven-toned ends are here to stay. And in rather matchy-matchy fashion, she even chose to wear this black and yellow Alexander McQueen dress, which coordinates to perfection.

And so, Paris Fashion Week comes to a close. Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen — OK, especially McQueen — all showed their visions for Fall 2009. Since Parisian shows tend to be more over-the-top and wildly creative than their New York counterparts, there's plenty to see here.

After last year's collaboration with Alexander McQueen, MAC is getting fashionable yet again. This time, the brand is working with Emanuel Ungaro, the fashion house headed by 24-year-old designer Esteban Cortazar, on a 14-piece makeup collection inspired by the Fall 2008 runway look.
For the show, lead makeup artist Sharon Dowsett created the look with a painter in mind.

Mordechai Alvow is an editorial stylist, which is a simple way of saying that he creates the unbelievably beautiful hairstyles you see in magazines such as Cosmopolitan, ELLE, Allure and Vogue. He's also created looks for Alexander McQueen, Anna Sui and Yohji Yamamoto. Yet despite his background in high-profile, edgy styles, his eco-friendly product line, Yarok, would get the thumbs-up from the biggest earth child you can imagine.
