Amanda Seyfried always manages to look soft and pretty, but at the Toronto Film Festival last night, she turned it up a few notches with this nice-girl, sexy look. Using gold shadow to brighten up a traditional smoky eye, and rocking just-bitten lips and rosy cheeks, her makeup was understated but fresh, and totally perfect for the new season. What I like most about a red lip is that it doesn't have to be too fussy, as the ladies of the 2009 red carpet prove. Whether it was subtle and matte like Anne Hathaway or bold and raspberry-toned à la Alicia Keys, it just goes to show you that red-toned lipstick is always en vogue. Would Amanda Seyfried's Mean Girls character liked this red-carpet look look? Maybe, maybe not — but it's an elegant look for this 23-year-old actress. Romantic curls show off her natural-looking highlights, and a soft smoky eye lets her rosy lipstick take center stage.

Last night at the Mama Mia premiere in London, the typically makeup-free Amanda Seyfried arrived wearing bright pink lipstick. Because of her creamy, pale skin and slate blue eyes, I've noticed that makeup artists often put her in various pink lipsticks. I personally like the mauve in the middle the best, but the balmy-rose is also beautiful.
