The Best Red Lipsticks

The ultimate pin-up girl has gone mainstream, and red lips are red-hotter than ever before. All of the young Hollywood celebs, including Lindsay Lohan and Christina Aguilera are wearing these very adult lips, but to get the look, you'll need good materials. (Tune in later today to learn how to find and apply the right color for you.) Here are some of my favorite red lipsticks.

Clinique Different Lipstick in Angel Red is amazing. It deliciously smooth and comfortable with medium coverage that won't stain your lips. (Fun fact: Nicole Kidman actually wore this shade in the movie Moulin Rouge.) Buy it here for $14.

MAC Cosmetics Lipstick in Ruby Woo has been reviewed on countless blogs as hands-down the best vivid bluish-red lipstick on the market. It stays on forever and won't feather or cake. Chanel Rouge Hydrabase Creme Lipstick in Red N°5 is an East Coast cult classic. It's got a satiny, creamy feel and moderate coverage that will last a long time without needing to re-apply. Buy it here for $24.50.

Nars Lipstick in Fire Down Below is a darker, semi-matte blood-red color. It's a rich and creamy deep shade that will add a dramatic flair to your look. Also popular is a bluish-red hue in Scarlet Empress. Buy them here for $23.

The Precious Essence Of Emporio Armani

Emporio Armani has a sparkling new fragrance called Emporio Armani Diamonds. We first heard about it in August when we saw a sneak peek at the ad featuring a Swarovski-clad Beyonce. Now that the fragrance has finally launched, here are all the juicy details.

It is made from a mixture of fruity, floral and amber facets including litchi, raspberry, rose, freesia, lily of the valley, vetiver, cedar wood, patchouli, vanilla and amber. The packaging is white and silver with faux diamonds on the box for a touch of glamour.

The fragrance range is available in three sizes of Eau de Parfum Sprays: one oz ($39.50), 1.7 oz ($49.50), 3.4 oz ($69.50) and a 6.7 oz body lotion ($39.50). If Eau de Bling is what gets you going, this is definitely the fragrance for you!

This fall, Giorgio Armani Beauty brings us its Leather Collection-a new range of eye and lip products consisting of reds, purples, browns, pale pinks and of course metallics. The textures are even smoother than before. The name for the collection doesn't come from the inspiration of colors; rather, it comes from the texture. Armani recently patented its Microfill technology, which enriches the quality of its pressed powders (face, eyes, cheeks) and makes them feel supple like leather.

The line includes Sheer Blush ($55) in soft muted pink (shade 11), Maestro Eye Liner, ($30) in true black, two ArmaniSilk Lipsticks ($25) in flesh-toned beige (shade 55) and rich burnished red with gold sheen (shade 56), Lip Shimmer Gloss ($26) in silvery pink (shade 40), Silk Lip Pencil ($25) in reddish brown (shade 12), two Mono Eye Shadows ($26) in purple/brown (shade 66) and burnished red (shade 67), and Fluid Shine Nail Polish in natural pink ($16).

The final item in the collection is an Eye Mania 10 Eyeshadow Quad ($65) that comes in a new snakeskin-print compact. The colors include a shimmering peachy pink, a matte deep purple, a pale pink and purplish brown shade. This quad is ideal for those with green/hazel eyes but I can see it looking incredible on brown eyes as well.

Coming Soon: Giorgio Armani Fall 2008 Python Collection

I'm petrified by snakes, but I may put my phobia aside, just this once. In September, Giorgio Armani Beauty is launching a collection called Python. The concept behind the look is a strong, bold smoky eye. The star product is the Python Palette ($100), which contains three eye shadows (gray taupe, dark iridescent gray, and luminous gray pearl) and two new lip shades (deep red and mauve) that help create a dark and sexy makeup look.

Python Palette ($100) is a double-tiered sleek, round black palette that contains three highly-pigmented eye shadows, two lip colors, and a mirror.
Blending Blush Duo (n°1 and n°2) ($60) are compacts that contain two blushes for the cheeks. One side contours, sculpts and adds color while the other highlights.
ArmaniSilk (n°80) ($25) is a new deep, burgundy lipstick.

Coming Soon: Emporio Armani Diamonds For Men

Josh Hartnett is hot, hot, hot - and apparently I'm not the only one who thinks so. He's just finished shooting the ad campaign as the face of Armani's new fragrance, Emporio Armani Diamonds For Men. (If you recall, Beyonce Knowles was the face for the women's version of the fragrance, and it sold incredibly well.)

The sparkling, woody scent is blended with notes of citrus-bergamot accord, szechuan pepper, cocoa bean, cedar, gaiac wood vetiver, and ambroxan. The fragrance will be available in three eau de toilette sizes ($37.50–$62.50) online and at Saks, Bloomingdale's and Macy's this September. I can't wait to check it out - and my fingers are crossed for some Hottnett in-store appearances.

Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gio is Really Impressive

For the last fifteen years, I've had a really strong affinity toward this old school sea-foam green fragrance called Acqua Di Gio. It was Armani's first big fragrance success and it has always reminded me of the cusp of summertime and autumn.

Maybe it's because of the aquatic and tropical floral notes-or it could be that my first post-college job was at Armani Corporate and was trying really hard to impress them!

I still keep a bottle of this oldie but goodie on hand for daytime wear. It is perfect for when you're in the mood for something crisp, light and fresh. It is made from sweet pea, jasmine, freesia, hyacinth, muscat grape, musk and woods and it's available in three Eau de Toilette sizes: 3.4 oz ($65), 1.7 oz ($49.50) and 1.15 oz ($39.50). Beauty Byte: Beyonce Will Be the Face of Armani's New Fragrance

There's been a flurry of fragrance news lately, and here's another interesting tidbit: Women's Wear Daily is reporting that Beyonce will be the face of Georgio Armani's next fragrance. The women's scent, called Emporio Armani Diamonds, will be released this Fall and backed by a Beyonce ad campaign.

The singer will appear in print ads and TV commercials, in which WWD says Beyonce will "sing her own rendition of a classic American song." I'm guessing "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend." What do you think? Whatever the song, it sounds like a pretty major launch.

Coming Soon: Giorgio Armani Lip Wax

We've already had a sneak peek at the Fall 2008 Python Collection from Giorgio Armani Beauty, but get ready for Lip Wax ($26) this September. These six highly pigmented lip colors are intended to be applied with your fingers. They can be worn on your cheeks and lips and have a matte finish. Really, the best way to describe them is as a designer stain.

They come packaged in sleek, black circular compacts with a mirror on the top and the product on the bottom, but the most notable feature is the texture. Wax can be slimy and oily, but this is dry, smooth, and elegant. It feels velvety on your lips and it's virtually weightless. Instead of having the heavy feeling of lipstick, think of it more like a second skin.

Lip Wax can be worn alone if you like the look of a raw, satiny finish, or it can be worn under a gloss if you're looking for more of a sheer and shiny effect. For a description of each of the six Lip Wax shades, which range from nude to deep wine, and to see a couple close-up images, read more.

N°1 Nude Beige is a touch lighter than your natural lip color.

New from Giorgio Armani Beauty is the 2008 Bronze Mania 2008 Ochra Collection. This sultry group of treats is made up of six skin tints, a pinky-bronze fluid sheer luminizer, two lipsticks, four lip shimmers, and a brown mascara.

However, the most buzz-worthy item is definitely the Magnificent Mediterranean Palette ($85). Inside of the sleek round black compact you'll find a mirror, four shimmery eye shadows (on the top level) and a sheer bronzer (on the bottom level). Once again, you can see Sasha Pivovarova modeling the collection, and might I add that she looks H-O-T!
