Wow. Ashlee Simpson looks totally different in all of these pictures. I really like the soft and solid color of her hair in the third image best, but I have to hand it to a gal who isn't afraid of change. Constantly coloring your hair this dramatically sure takes a lot of courage. Which do you prefer?

Just a few weeks ago, Ashlee Simpson was sporting a much subtler, natural hair color, but now, she's taken it up several notches, going for an intense copper-toned red. The new version of Melrose Place is set to premiere on Tuesday, and as one of the show's characters, she has been all over Manhattan making appearances on various talk shows to promote it. Yesterday, she was seen wearing three very different hairstyles while making her rounds. Of course, like Ashlee, each style had its own distinctive flair. Which one is your favorite?

Ashlee Simpson's hair has been long for a while now, but the color keeps getting lighter. Personally, I like her best as a dirty blonde because it distinguishes her a little bit from big sis Jess. Come to think of it, she does seem super happy these days, so maybe blondes really do have more fun. Which hair color do you like best on Ashlee?

Love It or Hate It: Ashlee Simpson's Red Redo

Last night, the Simpson sister's were out in LA, and new mom Ashlee was sporting red locks once more.

Seeing that she went from red to blonde just before Christmas, and now back to red once more, I'm just guessing that the crimson shade is her color of preference - and that she has an amazing stylist capable of creating such transformations without damaging her frequently processed locks.

What say you on Simpson's endless sea of change? Are you red with envy or do you prefer to see her in another hue?

How-To: Ashlee Simpson's Laid-Back Asymmetric Updo

Have you noticed a hot trend emerging on the red carpet? These days, it's all about loose, casually tossed-back updos with pieces left out in the front. Renée Zellweger has been sporting different versions of the look over the past few days, from her tousled bangs she wore at the September Issue premiere to the soft and feminine look she wore earlier this week. At last night's InStyle Summer Soiree in LA, Ashlee Simpson presented her take, complete with asymmetric, twisty angles. Like the look? Get some tips for achieving the casual style when you read more.

Using a shine-enhancing, medium-hold gel like Kiehl's Clean-Hold Styling Gel ($15), blow dry the hair with a round brush for volume and soft curl.
Create a side part in the front, leaving all of the hair from the back of the ear to the front of the hairline out. Sweep the hair behind the lighter side of the part towards the opposite, heavier side. Secure the hair by creating a loose ponytail with an elastic band, using bobby pins to anchor where needed.
Tuck and pin some of the loose ends of the ponytail under the band. Then, twist and pin some of the other loose ends for a tousled effect.
Next, take a few chunky pieces from the front sections of the hair and twist them back into the ponytail. Secure with bobby pins. Finish off by loosely curling the remaining pieces in the front for a bohemian look.

Trend Alert: New Year, Long Waves

OK, I know it's nothing all that earth-shattering since long waves have been in fashion long before the Farrah Fawcett days. But this New Year's Eve, it was all about the soft cascading curl. Whether it was a more-refined look like Ashlee Simpson and Eva Longoria Parker or tousled and undone à la Molly Sims and Chloë Sevigny, the look was still sexy - and a little more inspired than pin-straight locks. Want some loose waves? Keep a large-barreled (at least one inch or larger) curling iron open and wrap your hair around the barrel for a few seconds and release. Is this the iconic hairstyle of the 2000s? We have one more year to find out, but I'm betting yes.
