Trend Alert: Bold Golds at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards

Whether it was a subtle shimmer like Emma Roberts's, a bold, rich shade like Jordana Brewster's, or a mellow yellow version à la Leighton Meester, we saw lots of gilded beauties on the runway at last night's Teen Choice Awards. Notice how each of the women kept it simple with varying shades of nude and pink on the cheeks and lips. What do you think of these golden girls? In typical The Hills-inspired fashion, Audrina Patridge opts for the side pony tonight. While we're used to the reality star's dark brown locks, these days, she's going for a multitoned style, with blond tones at the roots, cascading into various shades of golds and caramels on the bottom.

As for her makeup, it's all about highlighting those light brown eyes with lots of liner and shimmery, dark gold shadow. What do you think of Audrina's lighter look? Is it golden - or not?

As a star of The Hills, Audrina has a trademark stare, and this time her upward-gazing eyes are darkly lined. While it's smudged on top and light on the bottom, the makeup still defines her hazel color, and lighter hair helps make her peepers pop even more. Her lips are a soft pink, with a equally soft flush on her cheeks, and flowing waves make this California girl red carpet ready. Did you hope for something more or is this just right?

First it's purple hair and now I'm talking purple eyes. Purple is one of those versatile shades that can be bright, playful, sultry, and subtle, depending on the finish and depth of color. Purple also makes green eyes pop, brown eyes brighter, and gives blue eyes a cool iciness. Katie Holmes, Kate Hudson, and Emmy Rossum opted for and soft lilac tone for a lightening effect; Audrina Patridge went for sexy, heavily-lined eyes with plum accents; and January Jones and Selita Ebanks spiced their looks up with multitoned colors. With The Hills on hiatus, it feels like forever since we've seen Audrina. She so often favors wearing her hair long and loose that I'm happy to spy this updo at the Grammys red carpet. The long sideswept bangs and pinned side bun insert just enough chic into her casual persona.

On her face, the matte red lips pop out, as do those hazel eyes. Framed by a thin line all along the bottom and a thicker one up top, the makeup really accentuates their shape. Are you feeling her look or does it make you want to run for the hills?

It looks like Audrina's lightened up her hair color since her appearance at New York Fashion Week just two days ago. That was quick! To go with her less severe color, Audrina is wearing a pretty pop of pink blush with her black lined eyes. On one hand, it's nice to see her changing her look, but on the other hand, I was liking her slightly more rock-and-roll style. What do you think, are you liking the New York edge or the more California vibe seen here?
