Trend Alert: Totally Bare-Faced at Fashion Week

No visible makeup is officially a makeup trend: at Rachel Comey, BCBG, and Cynthia Steffe, the models have all gone seemingly bare. In fact, Lisa Butler, the makeup artist at the BCBG show, said, "It’s all about the individual. The look is finished, but not made up." She only used mascara, mineral foundation, and lip conditioner. It's simple but very pretty. What do you think? Will you be trying this out in the Spring?

Beauty Byte: BCBG Expands Empire

BCBG founder and designer Max Azria has announced that he plans to take a shot at the beauty industry, joining the ranks of Stella McCartney and Prada before him. His products will be a part of the BCBG Max Azria brand, and will include a signature fragrance, makeup, and skincare lines, all tentatively scheduled for a 2009-2010 release date.

While Azria is still shopping around for his chief financial backer for the endeavor, he does admit that he is "meeting with a big company next month." Could perhaps yet another Arden-sponsored deal be in the works? Only time will tell, but given BCBG's modern and feminine take on clothing, I am looking forward to seeing what Azria comes up with. How about you?

Look Of The Day: Cool Mom School Concert Outfit

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2007: Designers for Darfur

On Friday evening, many, many designers, fashionistas, and do-gooders gathered together in New York City's Roseland Ballroom in support of trying to help end the atrocities of genocide taking place in Darfur. Since it was the finale of Fall 2007 Fashion Week, the theme of the event was a grand fashion show appropriately titled, Designers for Darfur.

The hosts of the evening were Lydia Hearst Shaw (shown) and Malcolm Harris of Mal Sirrah. The sponsor was Steve Madden who not only presented, but he also provided all of the footwear for the models.

The show was beautifully orchestrated and went off without a hitch. Some highlights were: a long flowing yellow dress with a jewel accent, a stunning floor length turquoise evening dress as well as the adorable children walking the runway. All of the clothing was created in Africa's colors; red, green, black/yellow.

All the items from the show are being auctioned off on ebay right now. All profits will go toward the Save Darfur Coalition so please check it out!

Model of the Week: Jessica Stam

Welcome to our very first installment of Model of the Week. I've written a five question interview that I have conducted with several models to share with you. The questions are both fun and beauty-related and will always stay the same. I can't wait to hear what you think of this new feature!

Here's a little history on the gorgeous Jessica Stam. She was born in Kincardine, Ontario, Canada on April 23rd, 1983 and was discovered in a coffee shop on her way home from an amusement park.

You may recognize her from her countless magazine spreads, appearances in many fashion shows and ads for Marc Jacobs, Anna Sui, Vera Wang, Atsuro Tayama, Cerruti Jeans, Valentino, Miu Miu, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Holt Renfrew and BCBG. Did you know that Marc Jacobs's highly coveted Stam Bag was inspired by her? She has just signed on to be the face of Armani and Bulgari.

Known for her amazing cat-like blue eyes and long lashes, Jessica also happens to be super sweet, approachable and down-to-earth.

BELLA: What is your secret to beautiful skin and hair?
JS: Don't over-wash your face and don't wash your hair too often.

BELLA: What is the one product that you can't live without?
JS: Aquafor. I put on my lips and anywhere that looks or feels dry on my body.

BELLA: What is your guilty pleasure?
JS: Shoes. I would say I have an equal collection of heels and flats, I love shoes!

BELLA: What is your favorite drugstore product?
JS: Leonor Greyl haircare products. You can get them at any high-end pharmacy and they are amazing.

BELLA: Happiness is...
JS: Eight hours of sleep and hot coffee.
