Make a Bachelorette Beauty Bag For the Gals!

A few years ago, my dear friend Becky got hitched to a handsome fella. Before she walked down the aisle, we had a no-holds-barred bachelorette shindig for her. I was in charge of where we'd be going, and what we'd be doing, and I wanted to make the other guests feel special, too.

One of the other bridesmaids and I decided to put together a little beauty bag for all in attendance. We made it small enough so that the contents could easily be transferred into a clutch or small purse for our big night out, and most importantly, we tried to make it simple and fun. Tips: Buy items in bulk, if possible, to help defray costs, and customize by incorporating colors of the upcoming nuptials in your goody bag. And if you have the funds, consider putting the gifts in a cute makeup bag. If that's not a possibility, use colored paper gift bags, like we did.

Bachelorette Weekend: A Spa Pampering Party

It's Wedding Party Week on the Sugar network, so I'll be bringing you a few beauty posts related to bridal showers and bachelorette bashes. Traditionally, showers involve gift-giving and cutesy games, while bachelorette weekends are all about getting wild and crazy. For those of you tamer, or less thrill-seeking brides, why not consider another option such as a spa party? This relaxing alternative allows you and your friends to spend some quality time together getting pampered and primped.

I understand that a weekend away or even a day at a spa can be indulgent and costly, so thankfully, there are a number of companies that can bring spa parties to your home. For example, Sparty is billed as a blend of spa treatments and cocktails. Their bachlelorette bash option allows you to choose from an assortment of bridal-themed drinks, food, massages and goodie bags. Prices vary depending on the options, but my best guess is that you'll likely be paying somewhere between $150 – $300 per person. Sparties are available in eleven cities nationwide. MobileSpa Bachelorette Party has a customizable bachelorette spa package that allows you (or the bride) to decide what treatments will be offered. Expect to pay between $150 - $250 per person.
Puur Spa Parties has a lot of fun options for large or small groups, including hair and makeup services and body treatments. I've read up on the Rejuvenate Mini-Spa package which includes a facial, massage, and a hand or foot spa for $140 a pop - not bad.
Spa Lot of Fun Party brings manicurists, masseuses, facialists (or whatever you desire) to your home to perform spa treatments on you and your friends. Prices and locations vary.
For those of you who are especially budget-conscious, you can design a DIY Spa Party. Make a couple of fun cocktails, a few finger noshes and some DIY spa treatments. As an added touch, in the background, play the bride's favorite wedding-themed movie!

Post-Bachelorette Party Beauty

It's Wedding Season on the Sugar Network, and this week, I've been bringing you a bevy of beauty posts related to wedding parties: namely, wedding showers and bachelorette bashes.

I already told you how to get a great makeup look for the girls' night out. But the day after, you're probably going to look pretty rough. So I've prepared a handy primer on post-party beauty that will help you recover from the bachelorette party - or any party, for that matter.

Everyone has their own hangover remedies, but aside from drinking lots of water, most of the usual tactics won't help you look better. For my suggestions on what will, read more

Start with a relaxing soak in an invigorating and soothing scent. For good measure, try The Happy Pill Bath Bomb from Lush ($5.70).
Scrub your makeup off from top to bottom with a vigorous cleanser, like Philosophy Purity Made Simple ($10 for 3.5-ounces), which also removes eye makeup.

Alcohol dehydrates your skin, too, so indulge in an ultra-moisturizing face mask. I hear Juice Beauty's Green Apple Nutrient Mask ($35) is great.
Wake up your weary eyes with a great de-puffer. My favorite is Origins No Puffery Cooling Mask for Puffy Eyes ($20).

Keep your makeup simple but refreshing. This Smashbox Backdrop Cooling Tint ($32) is a light foundation with a cooling sensation that lasts for up to 15 minutes.
Finish off with a shimmery white eye shadow, like Cargo's EyeLighter ($17), which is easy to apply and will make your eyes appear wide and bright.

Today, I'll tell you how to put together a great makeup look for a bachelorette bash. (Or, for a more subdued bachlorette option, try a spa party.) This time, girl's night out isn't about picking up guys, but picking out outfits together and playing with bold makeup looks.

Face: Since you are going to be dancing and sweating, wearing a light tinted moisturizer is ideal. It will provide a little bit of coverage, but it's not too heavy.
Cheeks: You'll definitely want to have a nice bronze base and a hint of pink or apricot on your cheeks. I really love these checkered blush and bronzer palettes. They give you a natural flush, and you can kill two birds with one brush! Lastly, apply a touch of liquid luminizer to your cheekbones, collarbone, shoulders, or anywhere else you'd like a little bit of glow.
Eyes: This is the place to get wild! I suggest using a champagne shadow all over your lids and going a touch deeper in the crease. Then try one of these metallic eyeliners on your upper and lower lids! If you are skittish about liquid liner, then just apply a chunky glitter pencil along the inner corners of your eyes and line the rest of your eyes with a black liner. Apply two coats of black mascara as a final step.
Lips: Try the new Flirt! Cosmetics Flirtatious Plumping Lip Gloss in Pink Pucker ($12). These glosses give you a full pout with lots of glitter and shine.

Woo hoo! I don't know about you, but I'm relieved the goth nail polish look is on its way out. The latest color from Essie Cosmetics is called Bachelorette Bash, $6.09. This shade is part of the new hot pink nail color Spring trend.

I happen to think that magentas, fuchsias and bright pinks are really cute, fun and fresh, although it definitely does remind me a little bit of the 80s! How do you feel about it? Can you see yourself sporting pink polish this Spring?

Get Adventurous With Your Engagement Party Makeup

Throughout the duration of your wedding-planning period, you are likely going to be taking more pictures of you and your hubby-to-be than you ever thought imaginable. Using events such as your engagement party, bridal shower, and even your bachelorette party are great opportunities to test out potential wedding makeup looks to see which one you like the best in photographs.

Hawaiian Luau : Test out different self-tanners until you find just the right one. Then add a few lime green, pink, or brown shimmery shadows, a cream blush and a bright lip color to match the flower in your hair.
Old Hollywood: Go for dramatic red lips, pale skin, and false lashes. And don't forget your makeup must have: a stenciled faux beauty mark!
