Between the ages of 10 and 16, I had a crazy, curly permanent wave with thick bangs that I hair sprayed so heavily that they stood straight up! At the time, I thought I was too cool for school, but looking back I resembled a Bichon Frisé more than anything. Classy. What was your all-time worst hairstyle?

Yesterday, Hayden Panettiere was looking cute and casual while heading out to lunch with her main squeeze. Sometimes a girl just needs to run out the door and grab a quick bite, even if she is a star. We've seen Jessica Biel and even Jessica Alba sport a sporting cap, but I'm not the baseball hat type of gal-they make the shape of my head look funny. How about you?

The Internet just lets childhood embarrassments live on and on, doesn't it? My childhood BFF recently sent me this video as a reminder of our junior-high crushes on the Guys Next Door. Developed at the height of NKOTB mania, the Guys had a Saturday morning variety show that was ostensibly funny. We thought it was so cool, and much more sophisticated than the New Kids were. (It wasn't.) So at the risk of being mocked, here's an excruciatingly corny video for "Bad Hair Day." I'd argue that most of the "good" hairstyles are pretty heinous, but you be the judge.

Have You Ever Asked For a Hair Redo?

Have you ever left the salon feeling not-so-fabulous about your cut or color? Maybe the blond was a little too yellow for your liking, or there was an obvious bleed mark in your fringe. Or perhaps it was just that your new cut wasn't cooperating with the texture of your hair, leaving you with a string of bad hair days.

As for me, most recently, it was the latter. I liked the shape of my cut, but for some reason, nothing else was cooperating. Since I wasn't completely satisfied, I called up and asked for a redo. Ah, much better. Have you ever phoned in a "part two" for your hairstyle?

Whether you're paranoid or not about your less-than-perfect pedicure or even manicure, for that matter, keep Milla Jovovich in mind. The multitalented model and actress never seems to have a bad hair, makeup, or anything else kind of day. But with all of the punching, gun-toting, and sword-carrying she's done in many of her action-packed films, her hands have taken a beating.

As a result, directors even have to shoot around them in L'Oréal commercials. Of her knuckles, Milla said, "They're all cut up. They used to be really soft, but they can't use them any more. They use someone else's." While most of us don't have the luxury of having a hand model step in when needed, and most of our nicks and cuts don't come from pistols and daggers, the next time you feel embarrassed by your mangled mani, don't. Chalk it up to life experience.

Sure, there are hats and headbands to hold you over during bad hair days and those awkward phases in between haircuts. Perhaps you're growing out your hair, or maybe you're just looking for tips to stretch out that style in between appointments. Check out some of my suggestions below:

Curly girly: Break out the curling iron or rollers and transform your locks by adding lose ringlets. Not only do you have a fun style, but the waves will mask imperfections in length, too. Try Sienna Miller's surfer-girl waves for a flirty look.
Switch it up: Simply parting your hair on a different side might just be enough to temporarily rejuvenate your style and give extra body to your hair.
Master stylist: Find a well-regarded, experienced stylist based on input from friends, strangers whose hair you admire, or review sites like Yelp. A good stylist will be able to look at your texture and face shape and determine what will work best for your lifestyle. Also, a well-done haircut should last longer, so you might find you can make fewer appointments per year. Make the investment.
