Obama "the brand" is going strong. In fact, according to an NPR interview, Chicago salon owner Mike Elsheikh purchased Ossama's Hair Design in the South Loop and changed it to the much kinder, gentler-sounding Obama's Hair Design.
Elsheikh, who worked at Ossama's Hair Design as a stylist prior to becoming the owner, said that after the September 11 attacks, he estimates business went down 50 percent or more.

Tomorrow morning, the world will watch the inauguration ceremony for Barack Obama, our 44th president. I'm all about showing my American pride, but when it comes to patriotism and beauty, I like to take a more subtle approach. So, perhaps I'll put an extra zip in my step with a sweep of shimmery blue liner on my eyelids or a cute star-patterned clip in my hair.

Michelle Obama is a successful lawyer, a businesswoman—and, oh yeah, the wife of presidential hopeful Barack Obama. She surprised people when she wore barely any makeup on a 60 Minutes appearance earlier this year. In a recent interview, Michelle explained why she often goes with a minimal makeup look on the campaign trail:
"I love girly makeup and stuff, but my view is that's a lot of work," she said, explaining her decision to routinely skip the makeup chair.

The presidential election is still a year away, but as everyone knows, the candidates have been campaigning for months. In South Carolina, campaign volunteers are chatting up clients at beauty salons. Some salon owners present DVDs, pamphlets and other campaign materials to their customers.
