Beauty Marked! Beach Beauty Essentials

You may have heard that FabSugar is going to Greece - lucky girl! So in honor of her upcoming island-hopping adventure, I devoted last week's Beauty Mark It challenge to finding the beach beauty essentials she'll need for her trip.

With hair, makeup, and skincare products to consider, this challenge was incredibly extensive, and I really think we've covered all the bases, from beach-inspired palettes to protective hair masks and post-sun balms. Beauty Mark #1: Neutrogena Fresh Cooling Body Mist Sunblock ($8.99), found by Mellie_608, who says: "This is my favorite sunblock. I like the cooling sensation and the ease of use. All you do is spray it on and let it dry. No more greasy hands. I hate greasy hands, especially when sand is involved!"

Beauty Mark #2: Pout Palm Beach Compact ($28), found by Spun Sugar, who calls this her "fave 'do it all' compact for summer. Two lip colors and two cheek/highlighter colors. Great on the go!"

Beauty Mark #3: Juice Beauty SPF 15 Tinted Lip Moisturizers ($15), found by Elpatterson, who calls these "perfect for beachy glamor" and says they "feel great on, like you're wearing nothing but a creamy balm."

Beauty Blooper: The Sun of a Beach Ruined My Party

This one's for all of you who out there who love the beach and think that because you have a mid-summer base tan, you can cut corners with your sunscreen. Think again! Just last summer, towards the end of July, I had a really big party to attend. I decided to spend the day at the beach so that I could beef up my tan and have a fresh sun-kissed look for the evening.

I figured that by using an SPF 15, I'd be well protected. Like I said, I had a pretty nice base tan already and I was sure that as long as I reapplied every few hours, I'd be golden! I even bought a self-tanning oil with SPF 15 because I wanted to my skin to be feel extra-soft and moisturized.

I was sorely mistaken! And boy, do I mean sorely. My entire body was sensitive and sunburned to the max. How could this have happened? The bottle said that I would be protected 15 times longer in the sun than if I wasn't wearing anything at all. It should be needless to say, my night was ruined. I couldn't go to the party-I couldn't even put on a bra. I spent the night in an oatmeal bath drinking water and taking aspirin. So what's the lesson learned? Make sure that you are wearing adequate sunscreen and that you steer clear of oil if your body can't handle it-otherwise, you're only asking for trouble.

The Hills Beauty Quiz: Episode 5, "Sorry Boo, Strike Two"

Last night's episode of The Hills was all about disagreeing couples. On one end, per usual, we had Brody and Jayde quarreling at Kristin's beach house party. Could it be that Brody still has a thing for his ex, Kristin? On the other end, we saw Justin playing mind games with Kristin, as he jokingly texts that he wouldn't be able to make it to her party, even though he eventually shows up. One more strike, buddy, and you're in trouble. In the meantime, over at Heidi's house, Mrs. Pratt and ironically, Stephanie, who was recently arrested for a DUI, cornered Holly about her drinking problem. Thanks to her dance moves and affinity for Jack and Cokes, we might just see the older of the Montag sisters headed off to rehab.

On last night's episode of The Hills, Kristin drives home to Laguna Beach for a heart-to-heart with her dad, and upon her return to her Malibu beach house, she's seduced by Justin, who cooks dinner for her. After eating al fresco, they head inside for "dessert." Meanwhile, Holly is in party mode full force, while her friends and family voice concern about her frequent drinking binges. As a result, she vows to end her relationship with alcohol. In other shocking news, Audrina and Justin have a secret meeting, which ends in Audrina promising she won't hang out with Derek anymore.
