Coming Soon: Biore Preservation Skincare Collection For "In-Between" Skin

Just when you think you're in the clear with acne outbursts, the first signs of aging start to develop. Pimples and fine lines - double whammy! If this sounds familiar, you might be experiencing something that's known as transitional skin. So far, the market for this unique skin type has been largely untapped, until now.
Recently, I had the opportunity to try out a new line from Biore called the Preservation Skincare collection, which targets those during that in-between phase. It comes out soon, and promises to reduce fine lines, increase radiance, strengthen the skin's barrier function, and neutralize free radicals. But does it work? A little goes a long way with this collection. One pump - even half a pump - of each product does the trick, otherwise, my face felt a bit oversaturated, almost oily. After a few days of usage, my skin was smooth, and I didn't get any breakouts. A major plus. The only things I'd like to see added would be a toner and perhaps an acne spot treatment. Oh, and I was just so-so on the radiance factor. Other than that this line is worth a shot if you're willing to spend $67 for the entire regimen.

The Clean Things Up Nourishing Gel Cleanser ($7) - High-foaming with a fruity scent.
Even Smoother Microderm Exfoliator ($15) - A not-too-aggressive creamy exfoliator with a fine grit.
Dual Fusion Moisturizer + SPF ($15) - Loved the fact that this hydrator has an SPF of 30 that didn't make my face turn white.
Hard Day's Night Overnight Moisturizer ($15) - Has the texture of a serum/moisturizer. It was a bit heavy for my liking.
See The Future Fortifying Eye Cream ($15) - I love gel eye creams, and this one did indeed reduce my puffiness. I'd like to see a little more moisture in this one, however.

Have you been keeping up with our fabulously honest and unbiased product reviews website? If no, break out your keyboards and give it a try. If yes, please keep 'em coming because I absolutely love reading all of your input on what's a yeah, what's a nay, and what's - just okay.

While perusing the site, I noticed that many of you are fans of the Biore line of products judging by the high star ratings, and when I noticed the brand's Daily Cleansing Cloths had yet to be reviewed, I knew it was time to add some stars of my own.

Packaged in a sturdy resealable covering, these go anywhere cloths are sure handy for travel and wonderful for those lazy nights when doing the whole face care routine is just not gonna happen. Perhaps a few too many martinis, eh?

These pre-moistened cloths immediately passed my "white glove" (white cloth, in this case) test quite nicely. Black waterproof mascara? Foundation? Peach gloss? Overall, I think these cloths are pretty swell. At a cost of about 23 cents per use, they are relatively inexpensive and you can't beat the convenience factor.

Aroma: Fresh and softly fruity - should not overwhelm the olfactory senses.
Cons: They are a tad bit wasteful. After all, I live in the environmentally friendly San Francisco. Also, depending on the amount of makeup you are wearing, one cloth won't do the job.
Feeling: Left my skin with a refreshed, soft, and smooth finish without an overly drying, astringent-like effect. Another bonus? They're oil-free, meaning no slick residue left behind. And yet another bonus? They are alcohol-free - even if your night wasn't.

I am somewhat obsessed with unclogging my pores, and over the years, I've tried tons of products that claim to do this, from blemish extractors to Pond's Clear Pore Strips. Though I'm always looking for new tricks, I now have an arsenal of unclogging products I use in combination, and one of those is the Biore Self-Heating Mask ($6.99 for eight masks).

This "one-minute facial" is a great way to prep your skin and open up your pores before using a blemish extractor. Plus, unlike some more indulgent and complicated masks, it's very quick and easy to use, so you have no excuse not to. For more on why I like this product, read more

First of all, the box says it contains eight single-use capsules, but each capsule has enough mask for two facials. To use, you lightly wet your face and rub the gelatinous mask on your skin. The gel heats up upon contact with the water, producing a warm sensation as you rub it in. After a minute, the mask will turn dark blue, signaling that it's ready to rinse it off.

It will leave your face feeling smooth and silky, and better yet, it will open your pores so they'll be easy to clear out with a blemish extractor. It's a really fast way to get a little skin indulgence.

Tools of the Trade: Blemish Extractor

When I mentioned blemish extractors in my recent post about the Biore Self-Heating Mask, many readers wondered what a blemish extractor was, and some of you were horrified when I explained it. But don't be afraid of this handy little tool: In my opinion, it's one of the beauty junkie's best weapons against clogged pores and blackheads. Extractors are also a must-have for anyone with oily skin.

I currently use the Sephora Double-Ended Blemish Extractor ($16), though I haven't found much difference between the different brands. Most all of them feature two loops: a thin wire for whiteheads and a thick, flat loop for blackheads. However, I almost always use the small loop to squeeze out all types of tiny blemishes. First of all, your mom probably told you not to squeeze your pimples, and that is still true. The blemish extractor is meant only for removing clogged pores, which start out tiny and white and often develop into larger, oily blackheads. Don't even think about using a blemish extractor on a real pimple, though.

Start by steaming your face with a warm, wet cloth, or do your pore unclogging after a hot shower or warm mask. To use, select the end with the appropriate size loop and surround the blemish with the loop. Press firmly and slowly slide the loop over the blemish until the clog comes out. If you do it right, it should be quick and easy and highly satisfying!
