Brooke Shields Shares Advice on Looking Great in Photos

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to sit down with Brooke Shields to discuss her role as a spokeswoman for Latisse, the eyelash-enhancing drug. More on her involvement with the product later, but in the meantime: since she's been in front of the cameras since she was in diapers, who better to ask how to appear your best in photographs? I asked Brooke what advice she could give us on looking more photogenic in snapshots. If ever there was a Miss Photogenic of all time, Brooke would win, no? And after meeting her, I'd say she'd also be up for Miss Congeniality and Miss Sense of Humor.

Back in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Studio 54 was the place to be. During its heyday, the Manhattan discothèque was notorious for its jet-setting crowd of celebrities and socialites, and among other things, its reputation for drugs and illicit sexual liaisons among some of those in attendance. All hedonism aside, it was also an era where fluffy hair, lots of makeup, and sparkled accessories reigned supreme. 2008 Primetime Emmy Awards: Brooke Shields

Lipstick Jungle star Brooke Shields focused not on the lips but her eyes - eyelashes, to be exact - at this year's awards. When I spoke to head Emmy makeup artist Bruce Grayson last week, he correctly predicted we'd see lots of lashes and sheer lipstick on the red carpet. What do you think of Brooke's take on the trend?

Love It or Hate It? Brooke Shields Lines Up at the Tony Awards

Some of the stage's most talented performers attended the Tony Awards last night, but because I suspect few of you are interested in Jack Klugman's style, I thought we'd talk about Brooke Shields.

There's no question that she's one hot mama, and her famously thick brows look just as great now as they did when she was a teenager. Brooke doesn't usually pull out this much eyeliner, though, so it's a change of pace. Do you like it, or is it too much?

The new Candace Bushnell TV series Lipstick Jungle aired last night on NBC and the name alone is enough to pique my curiosity. Well, that and a chance to see Lindsay Price again on the silver screen. I haven't seen much of her since her Beverly Hills, 90210 days. The show was good, but I'm a bit of a sucker for anything with a New York City backdrop. While the women are a little bit more mature, than on my other Gossip Girl and The Hills quizzes, the beauty looks are just as captivating.

Which 40+ Model Looks The Best?

Last weekend at Hampton Social @ Ross concert series we saw Christie Brinkley and Brooke Shields on the scene looking smiley. And back in June, we saw Cindy Crawford at the opening of the Sydney Omega Boutique.

I guess this is a little unfair, considering that Christie Brinkley is over 50, and I'll admit this is a bit of a shallow poll-but still, out of these three model moms, who do you think is aging the most gracefully?

Brows Throughout the Ages

Okay, so you're not fans of Sienna Miller's bold brows shown here. But you can't blame the girl for following trends. Just like fashion, eyebrows follow cycles of thin, thick, arched, and everything in between. FabSugar pointed me to an article about the history of brow shaping (from Nightline, of all places! Maybe Sam Donaldson had something to do with it.) Here are some interesting tidbits:

During the "golden age" of Hollywood, female movie stars often removed their eyebrows completely. Think of Marlene Dietrich and Bette Davis. "There was a real interest in ramming home the difference between the genders," says Zoe Williams, a columnist with The Guardian newspaper of London.

In the '60s, a more natural look dominated. Many women let their brows grow wherever they spread.
The '80s began with Brooke Shields' bushy brows, but as the decade progressed, skinny brows became more popular.
When the grunge gained popularity during the early '90s, funky brows were in. Francois Nars encouraged model Kristen McMenamy to remove her brows entirely, which helped take McMenamy's career to the next level.
Fast-forward to the modern day, as eyebrows are returning to a fuller shape.
