Found: A Long-Lasting, Multitasking Cheek and Lip Color

If you have been reading the site for some time, then you will know how much all of Team Bella loves a great multitasker. Such is the case with Pixi's new Succulent Lip Twin ($18), which I recently tried. While this product looks like a lip and cheek tint from the outside, once you unscrew the top portion, it actually also doubles as a lip balm from the inside. Available in four shades, the color I tried (Poppy Red) was a little brighter and warmer than what I'd normally wear during the daytime. I love combination lip and cheek colors. There's no better way to get a natural, pretty flush, and that's why I was glad to see reader Medgrl726's smart, informative review of Stila Convertible Color ($25). (Celebrity makeup artist Brett Freedman is also a fan.) Medgrl725 tells us:

I'm almost out of my Stila Convertible Color, and felt compelled to talk up its mileage for all this time. The creamy color has rich pigment, so just a dab does the trick on cheeks and lips. I find that it lasts longer when I'm wearing a sweep of powder blush over it, but no powder can fake the beautiful, rich flush this cream produces. It has lasted me a while, so though the price is steep, it's worth it if you crave a high-quality cream blush.

I'm a big fan of this stain, mainly because I'm not good at finding the right shade of lip gloss for my complexion, and this is definitely a case of "one shade fits all." Also, I like the fact that your lips don't feel sticky as they will when using a gloss. I rarely use it on my cheeks, not because the color is off or anything but because I prefer a powder blush.

Those of you who love Benefit's cult-favorite lip and cheek stain, Benetint, will be excited to know about Posietint ($28). Like its big sister Benetint, Posietint is a liquid stain that goes on with a brush. The difference is that instead of giving a reddish flush to lips and cheeks, Posietint gives a sheer pink wash of color. When you see it, you'll understand why it's not packaged in a clear bottle; the stain is the color of Pepto Bismol. Never fear, though: when it's blended into skin, it looks like a natural flush of color.

read more. I snagged a bottle of Posietint to try out, so I asked my friend Allie to be a model. She is one of those gorgeous women whose skin looks like it's never seen a blackhead in its life. I applied a few small swipes of Posietint on the apples of her cheeks, then blended them using my fingers. The result: A totally natural-looking burst of pink. I think Allie looks like the quintessential English beauty here - all creamy complexion and rosy cheeks.

Nobody would ever really be keen on the idea of putting blood or tears on our lips, so Rain Cosmetics is really lucky that its new lip stain, Blood ($12), and gloss, Tears ($12), are so superlatively great. Blood is a deep pink gel-based stain that's like a thicker, less-red Benetint. The lasting power is excellent when applied on the lips, but it works well on cheeks, too - even though it's not strictly for use as rouge. And thanks to the gel texture, the product spreads on wonderfully, allowing you plenty of time to blend away splotches.

Tears, the less eccentrically named of the two, is perfect if you're tired of supershiny, goopy gloss that makes you look like you just freshened up your makeup before eighth grade science class.
