New Product Alert: Vincent Longo Pearlessence Gel Stains

These new Vincent Longo Pearlessence Gel Stains ($22.50) are slightly different from the other cheek tints on the market because they are infused with shimmer. They are also water-resistant and sweat-proof which makes them perfect for beach beauty!

They are truly long-lasting, they give you a natural-looking glow and they can be used as both a cheek or a lip stain. That's all great, but the only issue I have is that you have to work quickly to blend before they dry. Once the color sets, you're pretty much stuck with it all day. My advice is to apply to one cheek at a time and start off lightly, since you can always add more.

I'm a big fan of this stain, mainly because I'm not good at finding the right shade of lip gloss for my complexion, and this is definitely a case of "one shade fits all." Makeup Review: Tarte Cheek Stain

The warmer months are fast approaching, which means it's time for me to get out my Tarte Cheek Stain ($28). I initially bought this product out of mere curiosity- and, of course, as an excuse to add a new product to my arsenal. (Hey, I have lots of blush; why not buy some cheek stain too?)

But lately, I have become obsessed with this cheek stain as an alternative to blush. Yes, it can be a bit severe when you first dab it on, but the slight stickiness of this push-up gel actually makes it stay put much longer than powder blush. For the rest of my review, read more

I find this product particularly helpful in warmer weather or when I need to apply makeup in the morning and still have it looking good at the end of the night. For that reason, I'd imagine it would be great for brides on the big day, as DCStar suggests.

Tarte Cheek Stain goes on a bit heavy, so be gentle with your application. I get the best results when I apply this product after my foundation and powder. Just lightly dab the gel-stick on the apples and contours of your cheeks, then blend the edges with a makeup sponge. Just focus on the edges, though: Trying to smudge the color from the center will make it look splotchy.

I like the Flush shade (shown) because it's at once bold and natural. Have you guys tried this product? If so, what shade do you like? What do you think of it?

Beauty How To: Create Fabulous Cheek Contours

If only we could all be born with naturally high and defined cheek bones. Most of us, however, need a little help to get the perfect contour and shape. Here's how to create this Hollywood-worthy look in three easy steps.

First, apply a foundation that's one or two shades darker than your skin tone to the area of your cheeks that hollows out when you pucker up. Blend well, so that there's no line. I recommend MAC Cosmetics Hooked Bronzing Powder, $19.50.
Next, use a peachy apricot or a brown-based blush on the apples of your cheeks and be sure to blend well. I really like Nars Blush, $25, in Gina for medium skin tones or Orgasm for fairer skin.
Lastly, shine and define. Use a light golden or shimmery yellowish powder on the area right above your cheekbones. One swipe with the brush should be enough for a glowing accent. I recommend Diane Von Furstenberg Eclipse Highlighting Powder in Sunshine, $30.
