Back in 1919, famed makeup artist Max Factor invented false eyelashes to enhance the dramatic performances of leading Hollywood starlets. Since then, there's been a bevy of lashes from which to choose, with Shu Uemura leading the industry in the most fashion-forward styles. (Even I've gotten in on the action.) These "lotsa lashes" looks are always quite memorable.

Back in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Studio 54 was the place to be. During its heyday, the Manhattan discothèque was notorious for its jet-setting crowd of celebrities and socialites, and among other things, its reputation for drugs and illicit sexual liaisons among some of those in attendance. All hedonism aside, it was also an era where fluffy hair, lots of makeup, and sparkled accessories reigned supreme.

If Cher's attitude toward beauty could be described in one word, it would be "fearless." Throughout the decades she has gone from hippie style to headdresses, from blond to black, from curly to straight, and back again. You name the hair style, color, length, or texture, and you can bet that Cher has done it.

For anybody interested in beauty, Kevyn Aucoin is a true icon. The late makeup artist was revered not only for his ability to transform people's appearances, but also for his legendary warmth and kindness. He worked with A-list celebrities including Cher, Tori Amos, Audrey Hepburn, Madonna, Tina Turner.

A recent poll shows that you are almost evenly split on whether Alicia Keys looks better with curly hair or straight hair. That's probably because she can pull both looks off easily. I'm getting a little bit of a superhero-Cher vibe from her appearance at TRL yesterday, but more than anything else, I'm amazed by her complexion.
