The holidays are over, which means no more binging on sugar cookies, vegging on the couch watching TV marathons, and enjoying stress-free days. But it doesn't mean you have to sink into being bummed out.

Of course, true seasonal depression requires professional treatment. But for a milder case of blah-dom, our no-fail cure? Beauty products, of course! As for me personally, I trick myself: It might be time to bundle up, but that doesn't stop me from pretending I'm headed somewhere tropical on occasion. If I'm doing something special, I get a spray tan. But to make sure I don't stick out like Snooki in the middle of Winter, I ask for only one coat of the most subtle spray tan formula the salon offers.

Winter weather is also a great excuse to pamper your skin: "Maybe it's because the air is drier and colder, but I always pay more attention to my skin in the Winter. Got Dry Skin? This Moisturizer Is So Addictive

There may well be some habit-forming ingredient in Clinique's Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief Gel-Cream ($34), because I'm having a hard time putting it down. Ever since the stuff came across my desk I've been slathering it on like I just wandered out of the Mojave.

I really like the texture; it's like a more emollient version of aloe gel, so it doesn't give your skin that unctuous feel that heavy moisturizers often do, and you can layer on as much as you feel inclined to. Gel cream formulas also work on both oily and dry skin types, so most people will be able to use it without incident, and it'd be a good one-shot moisturizer for combination skin. Claims the ads make about plumping up skin and filling fine lines are a stretch, though - it's a really nice product, but there's nothing antiaging about it. My suggestion would be to keep Moisture Surge around for daily use, and buy something else with retinol in it for fine lines.

A Fresh New Way to Wear White Eyeliner

Here's an excerpt of a post by OnSugar blog cee me on getting a runway-inspired white eyeliner look:

I'm not wearing any other makeup on my face, so all the focus should go to the eyes. I started with a white eyeliner (by Bourjois) and set that with a white eye shadow (from the Eye Shadow Duo Twilight by Smashbox), and then used a cream black eyeliner (by Clinique) with a very, very thin brush (by Sephora) to line really only the base of the lashes. I then used a black waterproof eyeliner (by Urban Decay) on my top waterline (try not to blink until it's dry), and then I used a black mascara (by YSL) on my top lashes only.
