Contour Cases Make Silicone and Plastic Appealing

When I wasn't checking out the new Apple goods at Macworld, I had my eye out for new accessories; mainly, I'm eager to see what new spin on iPhone cases there are. The Contour Cases' booth managed to change my mind a little about silicone cases by showing off bright colors and slimmer profiles.

It seems like the vast majority of iPhone and iPod Touch cases are silicone right now, and knowing its durability, it's no shocker, but I hate putting my hand in my bag and touching something that feels like a tire tread.

Contour's cases fit a little close to the device, felt great in my hand, and the color family (lots of greens, blues, and blacks) is modern and cool. Likewise, the hard plastic cases didn't feel like they'd shatter if you dropped them on the asphalt.

Some of the shown styles are on their website already, but I'm looking forward to new cases being added soon.

Beauty How To: Create Fabulous Cheek Contours

If only we could all be born with naturally high and defined cheek bones. Most of us, however, need a little help to get the perfect contour and shape. Here's how to create this Hollywood-worthy look in three easy steps.

First, apply a foundation that's one or two shades darker than your skin tone to the area of your cheeks that hollows out when you pucker up. Blend well, so that there's no line. I recommend MAC Cosmetics Hooked Bronzing Powder, $19.50.
Next, use a peachy apricot or a brown-based blush on the apples of your cheeks and be sure to blend well. I really like Nars Blush, $25, in Gina for medium skin tones or Orgasm for fairer skin.
Lastly, shine and define. Use a light golden or shimmery yellowish powder on the area right above your cheekbones. One swipe with the brush should be enough for a glowing accent. I recommend Diane Von Furstenberg Eclipse Highlighting Powder in Sunshine, $30.

Learn to Eye Contour in Two Simple Steps

You have heard all about the benefits of face contouring, but do you know the makeup artist's secret for chiseled eyes? Find out how to contour eyes with these tips from Make Up For Ever Academy's Lead Educator in New York, Floriane David.

1. Start with a highlighter in a shimmering shade. Using a medium-sized makeup brush, concentrate a dot of this bright shade on the center of your eye. (Imagine you're covering your iris through your lids). This spot will act as the point of emphasis in the eye contour. Next, gently blend outward to cover the entire lid. Make sure that your central focal point still holds most of the color.

2. Now it's time to add definition. Choose an eye shadow that's one shade darker than your skin tone. Take a tapered brush to place shadow close to the top lash line - but only on the outer two-thirds. Then sweep the brush in an upward arching motion from the corner of the eye into the crease. Finally, remove the excess from your brush and blend the shadow downward into the lid. This will blend the highlight and lowlights so that no harsh lines are visible.

And here's another tip from David: When you finish off your contoured eye look with eyeliner, avoid the inner corners. This will help keep your face looking bright, especially if your eyes are closer together.

Bronzing lotions and self-tanners are fantastic for getting a sun-kissed glow without spending hours in the sun's scorching rays. But you can also use these products to create the illusion of chiseled skin (no workout required). There are ways to contour the face with makeup, and similar techniques can be done all over your body, as well.

1. Décolletage depth: As strapless dresses and halter tops make their way to the front of your wardrobe, it's time to let your chest area shine. Applying bronzer above and below the collarbone will bring a chiseled appearance to your cleavage. Don't have the right shade? Try using a darker shade of foundation instead.

2. Glowing gams: Swipe a bronzing stick down the center of your thighs and shins to create a sleek, long-leg look. Adding tanner is also a great way to disguise stretch marks and veins.

3. The fake bake: Most darker-skinned women avoid the self-tanner section in the drugstore. Even though these products usually won't help you achieve a darker look, they can even out skin tone and provide a subtle shimmer.
