The Met's Costume Institute Gala: Leighton Meester

Leighton's look might seem silly, but in all seriousness, she decided to take a risk tonight, and that's what the Costume Gala is all about (did you see Madonna?). So I applaud the effort. She really tried to match her overall look to her costume-y ensemble, and for that she succeeded. Knowing that this is an extravagant gala, are you liking her look? Or do you prefer Lively?

The Met's Costume Institute Gala: Blake Lively

Well I guess we know who won't be watching tonight's Gossip Girl and taking our GG beauty quiz: Blake Lively. She's too busy rocking the red carpet at the Costume Institute Gala. Her dress was sexed-up, while her hair and makeup tried to match the tone. The sleek, pulled-back hair was in opposition to her usual tousled curls, which I found refreshing. Her makeup, overall, looked just as put-together. The skin was flawless with a slight tan, leaving the attention to her pale-pink lips and heavily-lined eyes. Also, it may be an illusion, but her eyes look like an exact match to her dress. Do you like Lively's look, or do you prefer her as Miss van der Woodsen?

The Met's Costume Institute Gala: Rachel Bilson

It was all about the hair for Rachel Bilson at tonight's Costume Institute Gala. Long, straight, shiny, perfectly parted, and beautifully brown – all describe what framed Bilson's cute face. Her hair acted as a curtain for the rest of the look which consisted of dramatic eyes - complete with a bit of a smoky hue and false lashes - and subtly rosy cheeks. The lips were equally subdued. This allowed the focus to be placed on her teal dress and that striking hair. You likey?

The Met's Costume Institute Gala: Tyra Banks

Not that it's any surprise, but at tonight's Costume Institute Gala, Tyra Banks was most definitely smiling with her eyes. It's good to know that Tyra's peepers have a sense of humor about this look too. Sure her hair has a quiff vibe - a la Janelle Monáe - but it seems a little out of place on top of Tyra's head. And, as for the makeup, well, it's a tad overdone. The deep brown eyeshadow highlights her insanely arched brows while her lips are va va va voom red. When put together, we start to see more of a mannequin than a model, but maybe I'm being too harsh. After all, Miss Banks is all about the camp. Do you think her overall look is appropriate for this event?

The Met's Costume Institute Gala: Renée Zellweger

I was a bit surprised to see Renée Zellweger on the red carpet at tonight's Costume Institute Gala, but, hey, it was a pleasant surprise. Her hair seems to have finally grown out of its awkward stage - either naturally or with the help of extensions. She was smart and kept it pulled back into a low ponytail. It may be a bit casual for the event, but I think the simplicity suits her. The same goes for her makeup, which barely highlights her pinched cheeks and lusciously full lips, all of which complemented her ornate necklace nicely. Nothing too out of the ordinary, but I think it works. Do you?

The Met's Costume Institute Gala: Ashley Olsen

The Costume Institute Gala is the perfect opportunity to stray away from the norm. Ashley Olsen is well-known for her piercing blue eyes, and tonight she went all out with a generous amount of black liner, further emphasized by some dark penciled-in brows. Note how her rosy coral blush creates a frame for those dramatic peepers.

So as not to compete with the substantial makeup, Ashley wears a lofty white frock, and her blond locks are simply styled in a sleek fashion. It's a sultry Greek goddess all the way. Do you worship this look?

The Met's Costume Institute Gala: Heidi Klum

Tonight's Costume Institute Gala is all about the models as muse, so it's no surprise to see Heidi Klum amongst the first to arrive - after all, the newly pregnant TV host, designer, and sometimes singer is one of the biggest supermodels in the world. Tonight, she decided to keep her beauty look rather simple, placing the focus, instead, on her Gilles Mendel gown and complementary earrings. But just because it was simple doesn't mean it wasn't stunning. Her makeup was luminescent thanks to the pale pink lips and cheeks. Also of note was her pulled back hair. It's hard to make Klum look anything but amazing, but I'm particularly smitten tonight. Are you?

The Met's Costume Institute Gala: Jessica Biel

It's been a big day for Jessica Biel. First, it was announced that she's Revlon's latest lady and now, she's in attendance at this year's Costume Gala, sporting an ultra-tanned makeup look.

A pop of tawny pink blush on the cheeks accentuates those enviably high cheekbones. That, plus deep burgundy shadows and an opaque, nude lip, create somewhat of an avant-garde, sun-kissed feel. As for her medium-length dark blond hair, Jessica tosses it back into a loose, not-too-serious, updo. What's your take on her fashion-forward tan? Do you consider it bronzed babe territory, or not?
