It is extremely soft to the touch - almost like velvet. The coverage is light-to-medium depending on how you apply. It smells wonderful and doesn't break my skin out at all. I have dry skin and it makes my face look flawless. I definitely recommend it for someone who doesn't need or want full coverage.

CoverGirl Fresh Complexion Concealer ($5.29) is a liquid concealer that many of you like. However, not every product, even one that generally gets raves, is for every person, as reader Bplasters's experience shows. She says:

"I really did not like this product whatsoever. It is very sheer, almost to the point of being watery. The color seemed a bit off for me, and had a lot of yellowish undertones. I'm extremely pale, so I have to be very careful with colors. Also, it seemed to sit on my skin, and after a few hours just looked like I'd painted over blemishes and under eye circles."

How-To: Amy Adams's Peachy Makeup

I expect we'll be seeing lots of red-carpet looks from Amy Adams, as her latest flick, Julie and Julia will be released in theaters next Friday. At last night's NYC premiere, Amy amped up the volume with some bouncy waves and a warm, glowing face. "We went for a steel and copper smokey lid, gorgeous full lashes, a peachy cheek, and a golden amber lip," said CoverGirl celebrity makeup artist Molly R. Stern, who created the look.

"Last night Amy wore a gorgeous full-length Carolina Herrera gown with a charcoal and white pattern speckled with gold beading. So I borrowed from that exquisite color palette," Stern said. Reader Review of the Day: Cover Girl TruBlend Whipped Foundation

Reader Pepermint179 had so many positive things to say about Cover Girl TruBlend Whipped Foundation ($8) that I think I'll just let her take it from here:

This is perhaps the best foundation I've used to date. My old favorite was Max Factor's Colour Adapt which was unfortunately discontinued, and I am convinced these two are the same product. The ingredients are almost identical and the two smell the same. I have also found my perfect shade - Classic Ivory. I am about an NC20 in MAC, and the color is match is excellent . . . Once applied, I just use my fingers, and only a small amount is needed. My skin is glowing! The coverage covers up all redness in my skin and any imperfections at all . . I must say this one is hands-down perfection!"

Doing Drugstore: CoverGirl TruBlend Microminerals Blush

Blush can be intimidating. Just a swirl and swish too many can make the difference between lightly flushed and clown cheeks. I've had my share of missteps, and when I saw how pink the CoverGirl TruBlend Microminerals Blush appeared in the container, I worried that I might have another Bozo moment.

Not so. The "Shimmering Sands" shade was so subtle, it nearly looked sheer. Once I inspected my face in daylight, the iridescent glow – with the prettiest hint of pink – was more visible. Very natural, very pretty. This brush and blush is safe from cross-contamination, making it handy for any mineral-based products. (I see another re-purposing project in my future.) So don't be scared by the bubblegum hue. If you're looking for light shimmer and a hint of pink, this may be just the blush for you.

Revlon Is Researching Rihanna

It's been a difficult 2009 for Rihanna, and today's news doesn't help. TMZ reports that Revlon quietly hired a polling company to gauge consumers' opinions of Rihanna - who is a spokesperson for its competitor, CoverGirl. The online survey, which Revlon commissioned, highlights a CoverGirl commercial and, as TMZ says, asks "if they are aware of the person in the commercial (without saying Rihanna's name), if they've heard about her in the news lately, if they have an opinion about the person and if they feel the person is 'an appropriate spokesperson' for the product."

Like TMZ, I'd wager that Revlon wants to see if Rihanna's reputation is suffering because she's sticking with her alleged abuser. I know business can be ruthless, but turning Rihanna's problems into a market-analysis project is pretty cold. What do you think? Business as usual, or has Revlon crossed a line?

Beauty Brands Team With BET For "My Black is Beautiful"

This is pretty cool news: Procter & Gamble, the company behind brands such as Cover Girl and Olay, is teaming up with BET for a new TV show called My Black is Beautiful. Set to begin in March, the show is based on the P&G campaign of the same name. Each episode will feature interviews, personal stories, beauty tips, and other content aimed at celebrating black beauty. The first episode features First Lady Michelle Obama, a surefire ratings winner.

My Black is Beautiful isn't a new idea, though; the campaign began in 2007 to encourage women to define their sense of beauty on their own terms. And after taking a look at the website, I think P&G is on the right track. Check out this excellent discussion guide, and set your TiVos to see how the show pans out.

How-To: Queen Latifah's Makeup at the 2009 People's Choice Awards

At last night's People's Choice Awards Queen Latifah was a fabulous hostess. And, of course, no queen would be complete without a regal purple silk chiffon gown with multidimensional sparkles. As for her makeup? The majority of you loved it. Her look was a hit, and now I've got the details on how to be luminous like Latifah.

Seeing that the star is the spokesperson for CoverGirl, it's no surprise that celebrity makeup artist Sam Fine created her classic look with products from this iconic drugstore line. To see color selections and techniques straight from Fine himself, check out the how-to below:

Eyes: Fine applied an eggplant shade (which is easier to wear than lilac since it's closer to brown/mahogany tones) on the crease and underneath the lower lash line using Eye Enhancers Quad Eye Shadow in Ice Princess ($4.99). He also used an opalescent beige shadow on the eyelid to open up the eye. Next, he lined the top lash line for definition, applied false lashes, and some Volume Exact Mascara in Very Black ($7.29). "Mascara helps to fuse Queen's lashes to the fake lashes," he said. Great tip.

Cheeks: Since Queen Latifah had just come back from the holidays, Fine applied a dusting of Natural Hue Minerals Bronzer in Brown Bronze ($8.18) to keep that glow going. Then, he added some rosy blush on top for a subtle effect.
Lip: First, Fine used a liner to define the lip - a step he never skips. He chose a lipstick in a neutral, mauve tone and a complementary gloss called Wetslicks AmazeMint in Pink Positive ($6.25).
Costume change: When Queen Latifah changed into her green dress at the show, Fine created a completely different look just by switching up her lips. He applied Vibrant Hue Color Lipstick in Cherrylicious ($6.21), a cranberry shade, along with a matching gloss for a fast and easy metamorphosis.

Biggest Beauty Headlines of 2008: Ellen DeGeneres Signs With CoverGirl

It was all kind of hush, hush at first and the rumors were swirling like crazy. No, I'm not talking about Heidi and Spencer's big nuptials. I'm talking about the Ellen DeGeneres' CoverGirl deal. And when the news was finally confirmed, it got people talking.

In a forward thinking move, the 50-year-old company paired up with a 50-year-old woman, making the comedic lady its spokesperson. It's so refreshing to see the drugstore cosmetics giant take steps towards showing that beauty comes in all types and ages, for that matter. Kudos, CoverGirl, for your modern take on the beauty biz.

There's no denying the stained lip trend and CoverGirl's following suite. This weekend, from Dec. 12-14, be one of the first lucky gals to try CoverGirl's new CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain. You'll score one when you spend $100 at select Bebe stores.

The stain ($7.29) will be available in stores next month, and it's a fun way to get color without texture. The 10 fruit-scented stains are all water based, so they're lightweight and wear longer than your average gloss or lipstick. Oh, and since they're packaged up just like felt-tipped markers, no liner is needed. Multitaskers - my fave.
