Trend Alert: Turquoise Nail Polish

Among the many qualities that make Whitney Port (of The Hills) so lovely is that she has her own style. I've always thought of Whit as someone who sets trends as opposed to following them. So when I spotted this style star sporting shiny turquoise nail polish, I was excited.

For anyone who's willing to try out a wild new water-colored varnish, get ready for the next big nail trend. You can always go back to my China Glaze review, and here are two more aqua nail polishes.

Nic's Sticks by OPI in Baby Go Bye-Bye ($6.99) is a vibrant turquoise color. This relatively new and easy-to-use nail polish pen is great if you are looking for a quick color fix. I haven't tried them, but there are 30 colors and from what I understand, the only drawback is that they are a little runnier than the original OPI formula. The advantage: the polish dries in just one minute.

Attention all neon lovers: Creative Nail Design in Hot Pop Blue ($10) is a bright aqua nail lacquer for you. She has done nail polish with OPI and makeup with MAC, and now Nicki Minaj is headed into the arena of scents. Nicki's debut fragrance will launch through Give Back Brands LLC (the same company that released Justin Bieber's Someday), WWD reports. "I have always been a huge fan of great fragrances," Nicki said. "This is yet another extension of my creative expression. I designed the scent and bottle with my Barbz in mind." Her Barbz (fans, for those who don't speak Minaj) won't have to wait long; the scent will arrive this Fall.

Nicki's funky and ever-changing style garnered her the first BellaSugar Best Trendsetter Award. No word on what the juice will smell like or how the bottle will be designed, but if we had to guess there will be plenty of pink - and a little cheetah print, of course.

Avril Lavigne Designs a Nail Strips Collection For Sally Hansen

She's known for her pop-punk hits and even as a clothing designer, and now Avril Lavigne has channeled her creative spirit into nail art. Starting this April, the singer will launch a limited-edition collection with the Sally Hansen Salon Effects brand. And in true Avril fashion, the polish strips ($10 each), which will feature 12 different designs, will include rocker-chic patterns like tiny skulls and leopard print.

"It's supercool because the designs that I came up with are my personal style and vibe - they're rock 'n' roll and fun and bright and colorful. You have sparkles and little stars - they are cute," Avril explained in an interview with WWD. Avril has already ventured into the beauty business with the launches of fragrances Black Star, Wild Rose, and Forbidden Rose, so what can we expect next from the star? Avril quipped, "I think it would be cool to do hair color."
