Oh mommy dearest - I once shunned your fashion advice, but now I regularly seek it. As a young lassie, I assumed you knew little about style, but now I realize I learned much of what I know from you. If my endless shopping excursions with mom have helped my personal style and wardrobe, imagine what the splurge-fests for the daughters of Anna Wintour, Carine Roitfeld (Editor of Vogue Paris), Danielle Steel, and Demi Moore have done for them! It's obvious Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Bee Shaffer (Anna's daughter), Rumer Willis, and the Traina sisters (Danielle's kids) have oodles of expensive closets to choose from . . . but it all comes down to personal style. For me, Carine and Julia stand out because of their effortlessly cool Euro vibe. Who is the best dressed mother/daughter combo to you?

Danielle Steel has sold more than 550 million copies of books in 47 countries and 28 languages, but she's not just a best-selling author. She's also a mother of nine, a philanthropist and a perfumer. Danielle by Danielle Steel was released a few months ago, but somehow this scent flew under my radar.

Maybe it's because when I imagine Danielle Steel, I picture an older genre, but this scent is pleasantly lighter that I would have expected. The packaging is great, too: I love the innocent light pink contrasted by the delicate-yet-naughty black lace. Much as she does with her novels, Danielle wanted to take her fans on a sexy escape with this fragrance.

This lush blend has notes of greens, mandarin, jasmine, orchid, rose, blue vetiver, amber and cashmere musk. The bottle was carved from heavyweight glass with a faceted cap and dabber-a reflection of Danielle's love of fine crystal.

The collection includes a 3.3-ounce eau de parfum ($39), a 1.7-ounce eau de parfum ($30), a .5 ounce perfume ($100), and a body lotion ($20). For a fun fact about Danielle Steel,

What Is Madoff Doing to Pass Time in Jail?

Since the $50 billion Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff has been sentenced to 150 years of jail time, he certainly has a lot of time on his hands. In a recent interview with the Financial Times, Madoff shared with them what his life is like now. Antidepressants help to keep him going, and he manages the prison store, which he calls the “money management department." More surprisingly, Madoff admitted to reading romance novels. The FT says:

“I spend most of my time in my room, reading,” he adds. “And - this is my secret - Danielle Steel.” We all laugh. “Yes, Danielle Steel.”

For the first time during the two hours Madoff looks truly embarrassed, even ashamed. Perhaps escape into fantasy – even of the trashy, romantic variety – is simply the most logical outcome for a man in his position.

Also on his to-do list: business schools have asked him to teach a course on ethics, and among his top picks are Harvard and Northwestern. What do you think of Madoff's life after crime - does it sound like the punishment is too harsh or does he deserve worse?
