2009 Primetime Emmy Awards: Debra Messing

When you're on the red carpet wearing a red dress and you have red hair like Debra Messing, would you wear red lipstick? That might be what one would call overkill, and that's probably why the actress opted for a nude-toned lip instead. As for the rest of her makeup, the funny lady paired that glossy lip color with an orange blush and lots of dark mascara. A few years back, Debra had a little mishap with a messy hairstyle, but for 2009, she's all about the side-swept updo with cascading curls in the front. What do you think? Get pumped! Sunday is the broadcast of the 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards. Of course, Pop, Fab, Buzz, and I will all be on hand live-blogging the red carpet event with our love it or hate it polls. Most of the time, stars look devastatingly gorgeous for major awards shows, but other times, not so much. How-To: Debra Messing's Makeup at the Golden Globe Awards

Whether you loved it or hated it, you've got to hand it to Debra Messing for going a bit bolder with her color scheme last night, particularly when it came to those heavily lined peepers.

The founder of Lorac Cosmetics, Carol Shaw, was the makeup artist behind Messing's look. She applied sultry green and black accents, which complemented Messing's midnight blue Zac Posen gown, keeping the cheeks and lips soft and neutral. And I've got the how-to when you read more.

Eyeshadow: To create that interesting peacock effect, the first shade of Color Me Couture Eyeshadow Palette ($37) was applied from lash to brow. Next, the third eye shade - a warm rosy gold - was swept on the lid and outer corner. Then, the jade green shade was used on the lid and crease, intensified even further with an application of Eyeshadow in Green Room ($17) over it. Black eyeshadow was used on the outer corner of the eyes and crease, and also to connect the bottom and top lash lines.
Eyeliner: Shaw lined the upper lash line with a liquid liner called Front of the Line Eyeliner in Black ($20). Then, a black eye pencil was used inside the eye for further contrast. To tie the look together, she smudged Green Room Eyeshadow under the eye for a sultry finish.
Cheeks: The Hot & Spicy Blush/Bronzer Duo ($28.50) peach shade was used as a blush, and the bronzer was used to contour.
Lips: Shaw lined Messing's lips with Pencil for Lips in #18, a light rosy nude, and applied Couture Shine Lip Gloss in Trend Setter ($22), a pearly peach shade.

2009 Golden Globe Awards: Debra Messing

You probably adored her as the quirky Grace Adler on Will & Grace, for which she was nominated six times for a Golden Globe award. And now that she's starring in a new series, Debra Messing is up for another Golden Globe tonight for her role on The Starter Wife.

With a midnight blue taffeta dress, jewel-toned emerald earrings, and voluminous auburn curly locks, her look is bold and colorful. As for her makeup, she chooses to accentuate her light brown eyes with heavy black liner and mascara, keeping her lips and cheeks more natural.

2009 People's Choice Awards: Debra Messing

Debra Messing's got the look - and it's pretty intense. After all, her strong gaze looks even more so with heavily smudged lines emphasizing the outer parts of her eyes. False eyelashes highlight one dramatic stare. She's definitely high on my list for her red hair, and I'm sad I can't see more of it - but with awards season kicking off, it's only a matter of time before we see more of her fiery locks.
