What I like most about a red lip is that it doesn't have to be too fussy, as the ladies of the 2009 red carpet prove. Diane Lane, an accomplished actress in her own right, walked the red carpet in support of her husband Josh Brolin, who is nominated tonight for his performance in Milk. No shrinking violet, Diane stood out on her own thanks to her strapless black dress, beautiful costume necklace, and overall hair-and-makeup look. Her wavy curls were put up, which placed the focus on her face.

This just in: Diane Lane has become a "brand ambassador" for Neutrogena. Like Jennifer Garner, she'll appear in advertisements for the brand's skin care. Print ads are in the works, but she'll first show up in a TV commercial for the brand's Healthy Skin Rejuvenator, an anti-aging product that launched recently.
