What I like most about a red lip is that it doesn't have to be too fussy, as the ladies of the 2009 red carpet prove. Whether it was subtle and matte like Anne Hathaway or bold and raspberry-toned à la Alicia Keys, it just goes to show you that red-toned lipstick is always en vogue. 2009 Oscars: Diane Lane

Diane Lane, an accomplished actress in her own right, walked the red carpet in support of her husband Josh Brolin, who is nominated tonight for his performance in Milk. No shrinking violet, Diane stood out on her own thanks to her strapless black dress, beautiful costume necklace, and overall hair-and-makeup look. Her wavy curls were put up, which placed the focus on her face. Overall, it was all about long lashes, a strong lip, and a pink tint on the cheeks and eyes. Simple (but likely expensive) earrings round out the look. What do you think of Diane's Oscar style?

Diane Lane lends her support to hubby Josh Brolin, who's up for an award for his performance in Milk. The accomplished actress is no lazybones herself, starring in four films last year.

A natural beauty, Lane's peaches and cream complexion is accentuated by warm brown eyeliner and well-groomed brows. She wears her coppery locks off her face in a slightly wavy flip. What do you think about Lane's subtle style? Is it a do or is it a don't?

Beauty Byte: Diane Lane Is the New Face of Neutrogena

This just in: Diane Lane has become a "brand ambassador" for Neutrogena. Like Jennifer Garner, she'll appear in advertisements for the brand's skin care. Print ads are in the works, but she'll first show up in a TV commercial for the brand's Healthy Skin Rejuvenator, an anti-aging product that launched recently. In the press release, Diane said

"I believe in uncomplicated, healthy beauty products that work – and to me that is what Neutrogena is all about. I’ve used the products for years, so I feel a real connection to the brand. I’m truly excited to be a part of the Neutrogena team."

Truly! Okay, jokes aside, I'm glad to see another foxy fortysomething getting a contract. Even if it's for an anti-aging product, I have a feeling Diane is the kind of woman who would want to promote the "look your best" philosophy, not the "aging is the worst thing in the world" malarkey. What do you think of Neutrogena's choice?

Love It or Hate It? Diane Lane's Close Crop

Diane Lane sported a new, short 'do at yesterday's premiere of Fierce People. And, well, that haircut certainly is fierce. I think short hair is so chic, and this is one beautiful woman, so I'm sad to say that this cut is not doing much for her. What do you think?
