The last couple of days have been some of the most experimental of the week. If you've seen the makeup and hair at Marc Jacobs's runway show you know what I'm talking about. While I'm excited to see designers innovating, I'd also like to showcase looks that are achievable without a team of brilliant makeup artists present. Trend Alert: Pin-Up Girls

Think you need to strip to your lacy underthings to be a pin-up girl? Think again. At Carolina Herrera and Donna Karan, hair pins transformed basic hairstyles into something fresh and innovative. And best of all, trying this runway look doesn't cost much money - just a couple of bucks for hair pins, and you're good to go. Arrange them in angular groups as Orlando Pita did at Carolina Herrera, or space them out to create the illusion of movement as seen at Donna Karan. Finally, when it comes to "business in the front, party in the back," we no longer need to think of mullets.

Coming Soon: Donna Karan's New Cashmere Mist Accoutrements

Why mess with a good thing when you can capitalize on a classic? In this case, Donna Karan has decided to maximize the success of her 1994 Cashmere Mist fragrance by introducing this year's additions to the existing empire. Beginning in September, four new limited-edition zesty scented bath and body products will be available for purchase at department stores nationwide.

The Cashmere Mist product range includes an oversized body powder compact, a silky body oil, a luxuriously thick body cream, and a candle that burns for up to 36 hours. My favorite product is the compact because it oozes old, 1940s glamour. The powder is shimmery, silky, and pale gold. It adds a warm radiance to your skin and ensures that your essence lingers as you go about your business.

Cashmere Mist Fragrance Body Silk Body Oil ($70) is an off-white, warm aromatic candle that comes in a classic cylinder glass votive and burns for up to 36 hours.
Cashmere Mist Silk Body Crème ($55) is back by popular demand. This body lotion was actually available last year and was an international best-seller. The cream is silky, decadent, and leaves behind a powdery shimmer finish.

However, unlike the other green and red apple DKNY fragrance bottles, this is dark purple like the essence of moonlight. The packaging is black with a digital silver NYC skyline and a hot pink logo.

The DKNY Delicious Night product range includes a 1.7 oz Eau de Parfum ($52), a 3.4 oz Eau de Parfum ($68), a 5 oz Body Lotion ($38), a 5 oz Shower Gel ($32) and a blackberry and vanilla flavored lip gloss ($16). The site captures the excitement of the nocturnal city and allows you to read text messages, stories, listen to music, watch behind-the-scenes footage of the commercial and check out information on hot new clubs, stores and restaurants.

Back to Basics: The Best Fragrances

I know what you are thinking: how can I only pick three fragrances to write about. They have staying power; these classic perfumes have appealed to the masses for decades. Obsession by Calvin Klein, $45, was introduced in 1985 and has remained one of their best sellers ever since. It is a powerful and ultra feminine floral and spicy blend. It has an intoxicating aroma made from jasmine, orange blossom, vanilla, greens, sandalwood, spices and musk. The scent is strong and should last between six and ten hours.

Cashmere Mist by Donna Karan, $75, was introduced in 1994 where it began as a body lotion in her stores. Her clients begged and pleaded with her to turn it into a perfume and the rest is history!

Cashmere Mist is intended for the mature woman. Its scent is soft and sensual - much like the feeling of cashmere against bare skin. It is made from: lily of the valley, suede, bergamot, ylang, jasmine maroc, sandalwood, orris, amber, vanilla, cedarwood, patchouli and musk. It can be worn in the daytime and has a long life on your skin.

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, $85, was introduced in 2001. Although you may think this doesn't constitute as a classic, sales on this fragrance have not faltered over the past six years.

The scent is sexy, young and feminine. It is intended to be worn during the daytime since it has a light and refreshing aroma. It is made from bergamot, orange, jasmine, litchi, grapefruit, rose, patchouli, vetiver, bourbon vanilla and white musk. Mmmm.
