How-To: A Pretty And Chic Stacked Ponytail

This two-part ponytail (also known as a stacked ponytail) will double your beauty pleasure! Not only is it a fantastic way to keep your hair off of your face and neck, it's also unconventional. In this photo, Jennifer Aniston is sporting a sort of well-hidden stacked ponytail.

You can choose to hide the lower ponytail underneath the top one like she has, or if your hair is really straight, you can make the look more obvious by separating the two tails further apart. STEP 1: While your hair is still wet, apply a styling product for hold.
STEP 2: Blow-dry your hair straight, then separate it into two sections: top and bottom.
STEP 3: Brush the top section back and pull it into a ponytail. Secure it with a thin hair elastic.
STEP 4: Repeat step 3 for the bottom ponytail. When all of your hair is secured, mist your head with a medium-hold hairspray.

Recently I attended a wedding where the bride wore a strapless gown, showing off her gorgeous décolleté and delicate features. Unfortunately for her, it also showed off a unique sports bra tan line, complete with red splotches showing the telltale signs where exposed skin had accidentally been passed over by a swipe of SPF.

Even the most careful of sun protection applications can result in unwanted burns. I myself have been a victim of inadvertent scorched skin, and have vowed to never (ever, ever) let that happen again. It probably goes without saying that most of us are thorough with our shoulders, backs, necks, arms, and legs, but here are a few places you might want to double check before heading out into the intense heat. How-To: Purposely Messy Updos

Y'know, usually when I think of rock stars, I think of long hair flying around stage. But at tonight's Fashion Rocks event, most of the revelers had their hair pulled up. Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Esposito and Mischa Barton were among the women who went with a messy, imperfect updo-which is exactly the kind of stylish but unfussy look you'd want to wear at a music-meets-fashion event.

There's something really sexy about this, too, because it isn't as buttoned-up as more formal updos can be. And best of all, it's easy to create a variation on this look in just a few minutes. For my tips, read more

After towel-drying hair, spray it with a lightweight styling spray such as Bumble and bumble Styling Lotion ($24). Work it through hair, then use a paddle brush to separate and dry hair with a blow dryer.

For Jennifer Esposito's and Mischa's look, work a small amount of mousse through the hair at the back of your head. This will create volume. Now, I haven't been able to see the back of Jennifer's head, but Mischa is rocking a fancier version of a look I like to call "I have to run to the grocery store and my hair is a mess." Basically, you're going to make a crazy ponytail. Gather most of your hair with one hand, leaving a few face-framing strands loose. Use a Goody clear, "ouchless" hair elastic to create a high ponytail in the back. From there, double up on your ponytail: Divide the ponytail into four sections, then bring one at a time back to the base of your ponytail, securing it with another elastic. I know this sounds complicated, but it really isn't. You know how sometimes you just "fold" a quick-and-messy ponytail into itself so it doesn't hang as long as it normally would? That's the general idea.

For Jennifer Lopez's look, pull your hair straight back (from the front), then gather the hair in the back of your head and pull it into a high ponytail. From there, try wrapping your ponytail around its base-think of the way a piglet's tail does a curlicue-and secure the hair with bobby pins. If your ponytail were a clock, you should be pinning your hair at each "15-minute mark," but you can do more. Don't worry if a few strands jump out! Messy is what you're going for.

How-To: Nicole Kidman's Australia Updo

One movie premiere, but double the hairdos for Nicole Kidman! Though she wore long, loose locks at the screening of Australia in Sydney, she chose this beaded style for the photocall beforehand. I'm here to help you re-create this look for any evening out – all you need is two rubber bands, pretty barrette optional.To get the look, read more.

Sweep your hair over to one side of your head. Take most of your hair and pull it aside with a clip (you don't need that part now) but leave a small piece hanging down at the bottom.
Take that loose piece and make a ponytail slightly to one side on the back of your head. Since this will form the middle section of the bun, place the ponytail where you want the center to be. Pull the elastic over it, leaving a small loop with loose ends over the nape of your neck when you secure it.
Grab the rest of your hair as if you were going to make another ponytail, but begin twisting it until it coils around the first bump that you made. Put the second hair tie around the bun and leave the remaining, dangling ends over the original set on your neck.

How-To: Jennifer Aniston's Makeup at the He's Just Not That Into You Premiere

He's Just Not That Into You opens this Friday, and at last night's LA premiere, the stars of the film looked red carpet fabulous - particularly Jennifer Aniston.

Inspired by Jennifer's stylish black tuxedo suit and loose ponytail, makeup artist Angela Levin created a fresh makeup palette for the actress. "Jen gave me the inspiration of a sexy, powerful California business woman, the kind of girl I think we all want to be," said Levin. Complexion: Levin prepared Jennifer's skin with Chanel Hydramax + Active Moisture Crème ($70) on her face and neck. Next, she applied Cle de Peau Beaute Refining Fluid Foundation in 030 ($115).
Eyes In order to create a shiny surface on the lids, Levin applied Shu Uemura Cream Eye Shadow ($25) in the beige shade. Next, Levin used Chanel Soft Touch Eye Shadow in Le Bronze ($28.50) on the outer half of Jennifer's lids and Tina Earnshaw Eye Shadow in Bitter Sweet ($20) on the creases. To finish off, Levin used Chanel Intense Eye Pencil in Ambre ($27), a sweep of Chanel Soft Touch Eye Shadow in Platine ($28.50) under the brow bown, and Chanel Inimitable Mascara in Noir ($30).
Cheeks A small amount of Chanel Hydrabase Lipstick in Fire ($28.50) was applied to the apples of her cheeks. To set the makeup, Levin used a large brush and Sephora Double Compact Mineral in D35 ($22). A touch of bronzer was applied to create a sun-kissed glow.
Lips A sweep of Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipstick in PK322 ($23) was applied to the lips and Chanel Glossimer in Jaipur ($27) added some extra shine.

How-To: Bohemian Double Braids (For Shorter, Layered Hair!)

Who else would have a bird feather in her hair but PetSugar? She was so inspired by Nicole Richie's earthy double braids that she set out with some bobby pins and rubber bands to create her own.
Worried that she didn't have enough hair to properly recreate the original look, she tweaked it and made it work. Get her modified version for shorter, layered hair when you read more.

Start off with your hair parted normally whether you usually part to the left, right, or up the center. Begin a loose French braid angled down along one side of your face heading towards your ear.
Attach a rubber band once you get right behind the ear or whenever you run out of hair from the layers in front. Repeat the process on the other side.
Next, divide all the hair that's down (including the two ponytails from the ends of your French braids) and form two more very loose braids with all of your remaining locks.
Use bobby pins to pull the bottom of each individual braid to the other side of your head so they criss-cross and secure.
If you don't have enough hair to form a bun with the braids, hide the boring, pinned results with an oversized barrette, hair pin or clip.

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2007: Luca Luca Beauty

Behind the scenes at the Fall 2007 Luca Luca show was every bit as glamorous as you would have imagined. Gorgeous, flawless looking models sat and waited their turn as makeup artists, lead by Tom Pecheaux, perfected smokey eyes and hair stylist, Teddy Charles, coiffed and curled.

The clothing was lined neatly in racks and the red carpet area had a white and silver Luca Luca backdrop. Unfortunately the photo area was packed inside since it was a mere 9 degrees on this frigid New York day. Although cramped, photographers didn't skip a beat as Carmen Electra, Kimora Lee Simmons, Lauren Conrad, Bobbi Thomas, Kelly Rowland, JC Chasez and many more made their fashionably late entrances.

Lucky for me, I had the opportunity to speak with both hair and makeup about their looks for the show. Teddy explained that he and Luca wanted to do something to up-sweep the models hair and keep it off of their necks to show off the details in the clothing. He also felt that sweeping the hair upwards shows off their faces.

He began this updo with hair that had been washed the day before. He started with a low ponytail and didn't pull it completely through - in essence he made a loop.

With the remainder of hair that was poking out, he used a Tourmaline T3 Ionic Wet/Dry Iron to create waves. Then he set hair with a touch of Kerastase Resistance Double Force Hair Spray. Each model only took about 20 minutes.

All of the makeup was by MAC Cosmetics. The eyes were definitely the main focus. They were lined in black liner and carbon, an intense black shadow was applied densely in the crease so that it looked opaque. It was then blended out with a brush and q-tip to look sheer on the lid.

Over the shadow, shadow pigment in dark soul was carefully applied with a crease brush. This is where the intense gold glitter look comes from. Next, lots of zoomlash black mascara in zoomblack was applied to the lashes in several coats and no false lashes were used.

The face was done last in case the dark shadow fell. It was primed, then concealer and foundation was added. The finishing touch was a drop of strobe cream added to the skin to reflect light. Atop that was a dusting of Blot Powder Loose. Just a hint of contour was added to the cheeks.

Brows had a clear gloss on them to look nice and wet. Lips were a nude color to appear like they were fading into the skin. Actually, a new product by MAC called Skinfinish in Shimpagne was finger brushed onto the lips.
