Drew Ditches the Black Tips

Most of you weren't loving Drew Barrymore's black tips when she debuted them earlier this month, but you have to hand it to the girl. She's definitely someone who can pull off the most extreme of styles. "This is the craziest look I've ever given her!" colorist Tracey Cunningham told InStyle. "I used clear foils and a stencil that I made out of paper to get everything to line up," she added. But, those distinctive black tips didn't last that long. At a press event yesterday for her new film, Whip It, the actress flaunted a shorter, all-blond cropped bob instead. This got me to thinking about my own fickle hair-color choices. I've had blond-streaked bangs one day, only to tint them intense red-violet the next. What about you? Do you tend to stick to one color, or are you more apt to switch it up?

The similarities between Drew Barrymore and Hayden Panettiere's hair and makeup last night were shockingly similar, and judging by the comments you made for both Drew and Hayden in my love it or hate it polls, you noticed it, too. Besides the heavier-handed makeup application and the addition of a darker liner on Hayden, the two blond actresses could have passed for sisters or long-lost relatives with their matchy-matchy wavy updos and red lips. Even their eye colors and bronzy eye shadow shades bear a strong resemblance. But if you had to choose, which Emmy-goer gets your vote?

Prior to the red carpet starting this evening, I couldn't help but wonder about how Drew Barrymore would be wearing her newly black-tipped locks to this year's Emmys. Now, we have our answer. Her dunked-in-dye tips taking backstage to the overall style, Drew pulls her blond bob back into a slightly waved French twist. Last week, we caught a glimpse of Drew Barrymore sporting this black-tipped bob while promoting her film, Whip It, in Boston. At first I wasn't sure if the dipped-in-black look was a permanent fixture in the actress's ever-changing look, but judging from her appearance earlier today at the 2009 Toronto Film Festival, it looks like these deep, dark raven-toned ends are here to stay.
