Leonor Greyl Huile de Palme ($39) is a before-shampoo treatment oil for dry hair. It helps to detangle and soften hair as well as deliver much-needed nourishment to ends that have been damaged by coloring, bleaching, perms or straightening.

Have you ever gotten ready with a girlfriend and watched in amazement how differently your blow-drying styles are? I clip my hair at the top and start by drying the bottom in sections with a round brush and work my way to the crown. I've noticed that some friends flip their heads over and dry their hair with a paddle brush, others tousle their hair using their fingers while moving the hairdryer at warp speed, and some dry their hair in the back first. I stand, but I've seen women sit and even squat. What's your specific blow-drying technique? Inquiring minds want to know.

Do You Ever Dry Your Hair With Paper Towels?

Recently, while perusing the Tabatha's Salon Takeover website (have you joined my We Love Tabatha group, by the way?), I came across a tip that I really hadn't heard before, although it seems to be reserved for the more frizz-prone or curly-haired set. Instead of rubbing water out with a towel, simply squeeze the moisture out with paper towels. The theory is that the softer texture of paper towels is less aggressive than than rougher-textured terry cloth towels.

It goes beyond paper towels, too. Often those with curly locks will opt for squeezing out the excess moisture with old cotton t-shirts or microfiber towels - a more environmental option, if you ask me. Sorry, Brawny Man. What about you? If you've got curly or particularly frizzy locks, do you go the nontraditional anti-terry-cloth route? If so, how's it working out for you?

How To Make Your Blow-Dry Last Longer

After spending excessive amounts of time and money getting my coif cut and colored in some of my favorite salons, I couldn't bear the thought of taking 30 more minutes to blow-dry my hair so soon afterward. Plus, let's face it, when your hair is perfectly straight and frizz free, you don't really want to mess with perfection unless it's screaming for a wash. Here are a few helpful tricks to extend the longevity of your blow-out.

Keep your hands away from your hair as much as possible. This will minimize the amount of excess grease in your hair.
Spray a dry shampoo. My favorite is Klorane; you can spray it on hair daily to help soak up dirt and oils.
The front of your hair gets greasiest first, so try spritzing that area with water and then blow-dry it again for a easy and quick refresher.

Last Night a Hairbrush Saved My Life

Readers, I have fallen off the wagon. I have a strange desire (during this particularly humid week) to blow-dry my hair straight. I know it's not the best thing for my hair, but this time I got a reinforcement: I bought Conair’s Infiniti Tourmaline Brush ($12.99) after realizing I no longer even owned a round-barrel brush.

I've had blowouts in swank salons where they hold a round brush upright at the end and pull it straight down to create a perfect wave at the bottom of your hair. The spiral openings in this Tourmaline-infused brush some how make it possible to do that yourself, without getting one strand of hair caught on the bristles (OK, or handle. I have a lot of hair). Do you guys have a Holy Grail hair brush?

Product Review: Klorane Extra Gentle Dry Shampoo

Klorane Extra Gentle Dry Shampoo With Oat Extract ($16) has been my savior ever since I discovered it about a month ago. It's the perfect solution for when your hair needs a proper washing but you just don't have the time or the energy.

What I love about this product and why I think it stands apart from other dry shampoos is that it feels light on your hair. And since it's odorless, it's not going to overpower your perfume (something you better be wearing if you haven't showered that day)! And since the product is delivered through an environmentally friendly aerosol spray, the powerful mist gives your head really great coverage without having to rub your hands through your hair (which would make it even oilier).

Simply spritz, wait two minutes for it to absorb, and then brush your hair out well. That's all it takes to keep your hair looking fairly fresh throughout the day. The drawback is that it will really only last you one day. After that, my darlings, you're going to have to find the time to shower the good old-fashioned way!
